Since $200 hi-point handguns are not prohibited, what else is out there that is not expensive. Looking for something in 9mm around $200-300 mark. one that doesn't rust easily is a huge plus.

I have to add: cheap, but doesn't rust easily would be ideal. I found Zastava handguns for around $200,but these seem to be rusty. A couple of people on other forums said they don't even recommend those to people with sweaty hands (lol, I have those)

I have had a bunch of "budget" pistols. Norinco 213 goes for $150 or so usually. All of the other norinco 9mms go for about $250 used. You get what you pay for. If you're budgeting $300, I would say budget $400 or thereabouts instead and try to find a lightly used Girsan. They're a Turkish copy of the Beretta 92FS and they're great.

I'd suggest saving a little more to get a quality inexpensive pistol rather than an older one...

A $450 SD9VE or PPX will likely serve you much better than a $300 Star or Tokarev.

Any particular reason you're looking for a pistol that costs less than a case of 9mm?
Why not? As mentioned, I do not care about looks which seem to ad a lot of $. Someone I know in USA owns a Hi-point which was purchased for $160 and he loves it more than his expensive guns, which are actually less accurate.

That is a good suggestion. It is not much more than the Zastava and probably higher quality than the budget Smiths and Rugers.

I suppose if all you're looking to do is make a bunch of expensive noise with whatever looks crudely pistol-like, disregarding build quality or design, then pot metal guns might be your ticket. I just don't see the point.

Every time you fire a gun, you have a small explosion happening a short distance away from your face. Do you really want the cheapest pistol money can buy? Do you also put the cheapest brakes on your car? The cheapest batteries in your smoke detector?
