Fn fal

I love the FN rifles, and managed to stay in the 12-3 and 12-5 classes.
I bought a Canadian 8L C1 but sold it years ago.
I regret that move and I haven't laid eyes on another one since then.
I made a down payment on a heavy barrel FN FAL but when I got injured I ended up with a lousy pension and I couldn't complete the deal.
It would have gone with my Israeli firearms.
I have an FN FAL being held hostage in Ottawa since February 2014. I understand its been inspected but not shipped back to Epps.
The guys at Epps are great to deal with and have been nagging Ottawa about it and other guns that are in the possession of the RCMP.

Yes I noticed the Launcher, the SA80, the 7.62 Bren and other great guns.

Lever Arms sold Aussie L1A1's for $199.00. They were pretty good mechanically, well worn finish wise. Alan Lever claimed to have imported 80,000 of them. There are 10,000 registered. Maybe they were looking for some in High River?

I have had an FN-FAL G1 sitting in Ottawa since Jan. 2011. I just got an email listing what need to be done (minor stuff, took over 5 years fir them to figure that out?). We are arranging to get it to a local gunsmith (really do not want to use their suggested Ottawa gunsmith) so we can finally get started on it.

Not to hijack, but how the hell is this legal?? Isn't there an ombudsman or some oversight to complain to?? 5 years is beyond ridiculous - the obvious intent is that you the owner forgets about his rifle or just gives up on possessing your lawfully owned property so it could be destroyed.

Will be complaining but not until I have it in my hands. I have documented everything and the time lines and phone calls (I was talking to an RCMP Officer in the CFC a few months ago who was very surprised as he scrolled through the file that we had talked 4 years ago). And I was not meaning to hijack the thread but it is seeming to be about a min. of 2 years for them to look at things.

I had one of those, but silly me I sold it in the early 90's when I went back to university.

Having this kind of bureaucratic harassment should have been dealt with in C-42. It's not like the CSSA didn't know about it. One of many things consciously omitted. Sorry, but you are casualties of the "machine guns on the streets" lie.

I don't think any SA-80's got imported into Canada, but from my understanding the Cadet version was. The cadet rifle was a single shot, bolt action, no gas system present

I have an Aussi one that I got of of Wolverine. Paid something like $450. Had lots of time at the range....then they made it prohib. I don't give a rats ass, but this thing will go unmolested to the grave with me.
I had a chance to shoot a few C1s and C2s, a few years ago, oh the joy! I must have shot off about 500 rds.

When did the FAL's get classified as Restricted? I bought an Indian one around 1992 (still have it) and I was surprised that it was Restricted being a long gun.
Did this happen in 1977 when full autos were banned?

Mozambique technique you might want to look into this the FAL is not restricted they are prohibited . Either 12.5 or 12.3 or 12.2. or is that what you meant?
Revival of another old thread.
