Fn fal

The FN is one rifle I've always kind of liked. Unfortunate that I got into shooting too late to own or even fire one.

I'd really like if they were back to Unrestricted (heck I'd even get my RPAL if I could own and use one!) too. Alas, a guy can dream can't he?

Boy oh boy...... what I would give to either A) Have a 12.X put on my license or B) have all prohib's moved into the restricted category.

I have semi-auto .308 rifles that are NR, R and Prohib. They all do the same thing in the same way. There is no reason whatever for any of them to made Prohib, or even Restricted. This situation is one of the goofiest things about current firearms legislating, if not the most goofy.

The C1A1 is the first centerfire rifle I ever fired [army cadets]. It's a bit of a beast to shoot and carry over hill and dale for a day, or days on end. But by damn, when you hold one, you know you have something serious in your hands.

Oh how I would love to have an FN FAL in my collection, unfortunately though I cannot do that in Canada because:
The 22 years of military service under my belt doesn't mean diddly squat to our country's lawmakers
Even though I have had a PAL for nearly a decade, there are many people in this country who are quite vocal about not trusting me and other PAL holders
I have no criminal convictions or arrests, which means nothing to gun-banners, because according to them I am a problem waiting to happen
My birthdate also seems to have worked against me too, as I lived in an anti-gun home while younger, and my parents wouldn't sign off on an FAC application
No getting into the firearms collecting hobby for me at an early age, prior to the government silliness beginning
The cherry on top was that spineless Canadian politicians and police brass wet their pants on seeing a picture of that FN rifle (not to mention other rifles)
So to suit their own interests, those "all knowing" nit wits decided the FN had to be prohibited
In this land of opportunity and equality, my personal conduct was really irrelevant to those who were pulling the strings at the time
Public safety my ass
I just want to own a freakin' FN

Mozambique technique you might want to look into this the FAL is not restricted they are prohibited . Either 12.5 or 12.3 or 12.2. or is that what you meant?
Revival of another old thread.

I was just interested in why they became restricted back in the day.
Through shear luck I owned a few cheap guns in the early 1990's that I managed to get 12.4,5,6 grandfathering. I wish I got that 12.3 though.

Qualifications don't mean diddly sh*t up here. Hell, even a lot of police cannot carry off duty up here. I can't say I know any 1811's (American jargon for federal agents who are criminal investigators. FBI Special Agents for example) who've been to Canada and been through the hassle. What I DO know is the FBI has an agency policy REQUIRING their special agents to be armed AT ALL TIMES. I'm not sure if that is enforced up here or not but suffice it to say? I'm sure some idiot would complain anyways.

All to do with keeping up our "peaceful" appearances, pacification of us serfs, whipping boys and peasants and getting us prepped for total disarmament.

Yes it IS a beast of a rifle. Hell, even holding a deactivated G3 makes you think. Them "battle rifles" are really something! Truth be told? Even though I like the G3 a tiny bit more? I'll take anything I can get from the "naughty" category lol!

An illiterate mountain tribesman can make an AK-47 with hand tools faster than they can needlessly examine a gun.

AIN'T THAT THE SAD TRUTH!!!!! ROFL and for proof? Just ask around in Afghanistan! Africa too and some parts of Asia!

Wheew! Yeah. 12.2 would be nice too.

Is it actually possible to get 12.7 still? I heard you can phone and get antique semi auto handguns if they were manufactured BEFORE Jan 1st, 1946 but I don't know.

Anybody remember what triggered the 1983 Restriction of the FAL and what other gun legislation came in that year?

Fal's were $199.00 retail at Lever Arms then, cheaper if you bought a crate of 7 or 8 , I can't remember. I remember asking the Calgary Police Registrar at the time why they were being restricted. His response was they did not want them becoming as common as Lee Enfields.
