Ontario Antlerless Draw Results

No antlerless tags for son and I in 47. In previous years most that applied in this zone got one. If available tags have been reduced, that's maybe a good thing since deer numbers in 47 seem to be way down from 2 yrs ago. Looking forward to two weeks buck rifle hunt, though.

Didn't get a bows only tag for 76A so I'm off to hunt in southern Illinois. Camp didn't get a moose tag in 56 either. The MNR is a junior ministry and incredibly understaffed and under resourced. Their surveys are questionable and the science feeding the tag allocations is grossly oversimplified. Why in the hell do we have over 100 WMU's? This province could be drawn up into far fewer units and population data could could used across much larger geographic areas. Winters, predation and habitat loss are affecting big game populations no doubt, but the handful of biologists working for the ministry cannot possibly have an accurate handle on the causes for each and every WMU and occasional fly overs are anecdotal at best.

15 guys not getting an adult bull tag anywhere there's a moose season is bullsh*t and only getting an antlerless tag occasionally is unacceptable. Cost of licenses keep going up though, somehow they always seem to get that right.

Deer numbers down all over Ontario.
I think MNR is doing the right thing in reducing available tag numbers.

Deer numbers are up in 43 as compare to 2-3 years ago.

Likewise. We've been leaving the does alone for the past few years and it's starting to show. I have 3 does with 4 fawns on camera, plus a couple of dry does and 4 or 5 bucks. Not so many moose this year. Both my brother and I have antlerless tags, just not sure if I'll use mine. Might hold out for a decent buck.

And that's the second time I heard of someone not getting a tag in 47.

You seem to have an over simplified view of Ontario as a whole. It is much larger and complex then you think. Just because you where unsuccessful in the draw means squat. 100 wildlife units is acceptable. Remember that we do have ocean front property in Ontario. You choose to apply in the most popular and over hunted areas in Ontario and where unsuccessful. Shocker.
Instead of applying for a less hunted area and then applying for a surplus tag you choose the easy out and are taking off to the states.
Good riddance!!! Your sense of entitlement and arrogance and complete lack of knowledge is embarrassing.
I was successful in 5 and my spouse in 8. Your not welcome here. Stay south and be miserable.

Ontario is divided into far too many WMU's for the size and resources of our MNR, that was my point. Have a drink, you need one
