1911 guys

Personal preference is weaponshield.

In a pinch any gun oil will do. I also have a tube of Wilson's white grease, works well too.

I've used all three in a custom Action Works 9mm CCO. Took about 900 rounds before it became completely reliable due to tightness of slide/frame fit.

Basically ANY oil quality grease will do. I have tons of gun oil from when I was much younger but if I was starting out today I'd just put motor oil in a needle syringe and call it a day.

I have a big tube of high temp wheel bearing grease in the garage the I use regularly as well as Balistiol or hoppes gun oil, whatever I haven't run out of is what I use.

I'm always surprised at how civil gun lube threads are around here, bring up oil on a motorcycle thread and watch everyone get worked up lol.

G96. It has always worked well for me in my firearms. I am sold on it because it does an awesome job of keeping an outdooor shed lock running smoothly. I mean if it can keep the cheap tumblers turning smooth in all weather conditions it must be adequate to keep moving parts on firearms in working order. It also works very well in rust prevention. A shot of G96 in a trailer hitch lock works wonders for keeping it from rusting shut.

have a gun freeze on you mid mag and you'll never stray from G96 my friend.
ive run G96 for years now and havnt had any problems with any of my guns (my dozen or so 1911's included).
i run them outside in +32 to -50 every year rain or shine, blizzard or drought.
that and G96 smells the best.
G96 is more of a cleaner than a lubricant. While it will work as a lubricant, your parts are going to wear at an accelerated rate compared to something with higher viscosity, like grease.

I've been using Mobil 1 synthetic grease on all of my guns for years and have never had a gun freeze on me mid-mag. Unless you are shooting in extreme conditions (i.e. very cold weather, sandstorms, etc.) there is no reason not to use grease.
