Year of the magazine, will 3 gun suck?

So if this is the year of the magazine, and we have to use 5 round mags, will 3 gun suck? I've shot in some of the 3GN shoots, and it is nice because my standings show where I am in relation to many competing in the US. Given the 3GN classifiers, us Canadians can be competitive with the Yanks as there are not usually more than 3 double taps with a mandatory reload before the next bank of 3 double taps. So then the competing ground is the same for us as it is for them. However, 5 round mags, or 5+1, could limit the fun, and perhaps, dampen our already limited competitiveness.

For eg, an IPSC shooter I know was competing in the states and he screwed himself on a stage as he did a Canadian reload. He is trained to shoot/count 10 rounds, and did a reload costing him 2 to 3 seconds, when he didn't need to because he was unaccustomed to normal capacity mags (22 rounds of .40S&W instead of 10).

Is it a big deal? Or is it just in my head? I think outlaw 3 gun stages definitely would suck. Shoot 5/6 and reload. All would have the same handicap, and I am sure it would be a competition of the better reloader, but would it train a 5 round Canadian reload?

And I heard the RCMP were going after shotguns. Not sure how it would play out for mag extension tubes for semi's and pumps? If we could only shoot 5 in either, it definitely would suck.

Cheers!

We would adapt. Everyone has to follow the same stupid magazine rules already and we still have fun. Carrying more mags and changing them more often wouldn't put much of a dent in my enjoyment of the game

This.

We were shooting 3 gun here before LAR mags were imported and we made out just fine.

The Service Rifle Matches have always limited themselves to 5 round magazines.
And they seem to have no problem filling up huge match rosters.

Plate carriers and chest rigs are quite popular with that crowd.
Which is good because it allows them to carry a ton of rifle mags.

This is what 35 rifle rounds looks like in 5 round mags.

Huh. I'm not a competitor, but I'm a little conflicted by this thread. Elsewhere, Wendy is making comments about how shooters don't need normal capacity mags to partake in competitions, and that there would be no sympathy from Canadians for shooters who want higher capacity. And here, people are pretty much shrugging it off and agreeing with her position. Not that I don't think people would adapt out of necessity to any further silly limitations, but still, it is rather...strange...to read comments that are essentially in agreement. Things just get curiouser and curiouser.

So, will you adapt when somebody decides 5 is too many?

No one is saying that they're happy with the status quo or what may come.

We're just saying we would do our best to keep on doing what we do.

Don't make leaps to "we're agreeing with Wendy". That's complete bull$hit.

Whoa...calm down. All I'm saying is that the statements of simply adapting and carrying on, are de facto accepting her statements that the regular capacity mags are not needed. If you say you are capable of competing just fine without them, can you say you need them? Personally, I think Wendy is nothing but a windbag, and people have no choice to adapt to whatever asinine rules they are forced to operate under. So, what we have is a mind bending conundrum, and that was my point.

Saying we will adapt to asinine mag restrictions and continue to enjoy 3gun is not de facto accepting of Wendy's statements; give your head a shake! The OP asked if 3 gun will suck if new mag rules are forced on us - I said it will not suck and I will continue to enjoy it.

You don't compete so let me put it in other terms using your logic: Would you still enjoy owning and shooting guns in Canada if you had to reduce the capacity of every one of your magazines by 50%? You would? Well I guess that makes you a de facto supporter of Wendy and her statements! Doesn't feel too good being accused of that does it?

I understand the point you were trying to make but you really need to stop and read what Stevo wrote about not making leaps. Every gun owner in this country is doing what Steveo and I stated we would do: making the best of our current asinine gun laws. That doesn't mean we don't fight stupid regulations vigorously and for you to imply otherwise is insulting.

Seriously, you compare me to Wendy and then say "calm down" when I wasn't excited?

What you're doing, it's called trolling, Chief.

I read a comment about the ruger 10/22 situation basically saying why can't we just put 2 10 rounders together and that's the end of it? It's just another case of ignorance, not agreeing with Wendy. That just shows how ignorant SHE is.

Disarming private citizens is like that episode of the Simpsons where the aliens attack with a stick. Or as Plato put it in the republic, would you rather fight with lean hard dogs, or against them.

I think the Simpsons conveyed their feelings on armed citizens on the episode where homer gets a gun. At the end where Snake tried to rob the hotel, a bunch of other characters draw on him and he runs away........
