Hey there people. I just ordered a Colt 6920 upper and would appreciate some advice on hand guards and gas blocks .
I'm liking the BCM KMR 11 inch right now.So my guestion is, would I need a low profile has block? MI low profile gas block perhaps ?
Or will the gas block that comes with the upper, work?
And if I do need a low profile GB, is there any thing else I would need to make this combo work? ( BCM KMR 11 and low profile GB).
Thanks for any advice.

i did the same thing you did and went an ordered a BCM kmr 14'' and i cant say anything bad about it super tight fit an quality feels great in the hands. I recommend it a lot. for gas block i took a grinder to the a2 front post made it fit exactly and its a perfect fit. it does take some time but its well wroth it.

Hey thanks, can I just remove the front post and use a low profile GB?

you can i would just really make sure it does state LOW PROFILE if you do go with KMR its extremely tight to the barrel. also make sure it has at least two locking pins in the gas block and use blue lock tight.

Ok, thanks. I was looking at a Midwest industries Low profile GB. Not sure if I can find one in Canada though.

Thanks. One more question. Is the Colt sa 20 lower the same as the colt sa 15 lower? The reason I'm asking is that , there's a colt diemaco Sa 20 lower for $500 on the EE. I'm questing that it's the same as the 15.

Was the BCM KMR an easy drop in? Or would the KAC or DD omega be an easier install? I'm looking for easy as possible:)

Just shave the FSB, or use a handguard that allows the FSB to stick out like the DD RIS2 ( there is a version that is made for regular AR gas block)

I was thinking I could remove the FSB, add a LP GB , 10 or 11 inch hand guard. Drop in preferably. But I don't want to remove the barrel nut or anything else for that matter. I've watched about three hrs of YouTube and they all seem to remove the barrel nut or have to cut something. I'm looking for a free float , full top rail, built in sling attachment , hand guard. I really don't care what brand name as long as it's durable. I can get a BCM alpha,LPGB,and buffer tube assembly for $390 , seems reasonable.

To install the BCM alpha, you will need to remove the FSB and swap out the barrel nut. The cheapest way is to dremel the FSB down.

Take the gas tube out, punch out the FSB, dremel it down and make sure it can fit under the hand guard, swap out the barrel nut, reinstall the FSB, torque down the barrel nut, put the gas tube back on and install the handgurad.

To use a BCM gas block, it is preferably the barrel is already dimpled for the set screw so it can be easily aligned. Since the regular M4 barrel is not dimpled, it maybe a bit more tricky to align the gas block. The set screw will also pushing against a round surface, so the gas block may not going to stay on as tight unless you plan on take it to a gunsmith for pinning. Keep in mind you barrel already has two cuts for the original pins.

Here's what I've come up with. I'll shave off the A frame of the FSP and use a MI K series mid length free float hand guard. Any issues with going this route? It looks so easy :) and I can get that and a buffer tube assembly for $250.

I have an nsr on mine
certainly not the easiest install, but incredibly solid, super light and very nice for small hands like mine
