T2 Garand -Part 2

How is a more civilized, polite, uncensored forum considered a "scammer". At least there you can type CGN and it is nor erased. Try the reverse here, I guess any competition on the internet is a threat to CGN.

I'm kind of concerned that st1264 has some information that the EE over there has a problem...if that's the case, speak up or PM me if you want but inquiring minds want to know.

I would argue that in 2016 the notion of "competition" between CGN and ### -- or any two or more web sites -- is laughable. There isn't a single sub-forum on either forum that isn't replicated by an entire forum somewhere else. For example, I spend as much time as I do on reloading dedicated fora as I do in the reloading forums of CGN, ### or AR15.com combined. The web is a little big for a sandbox.

Pretending that another web site doesn't exist is childish and sophomoric.

At any rate, I'm glad to see that people are getting full refunds and Marstar isn't just re-posting them for sale as replenished stock. As fraserdw said, a rather transparent admission if there ever was one.

Edit: Well feck me, G O C really is censored on this forum. How sad.

What is the problem with Government Of Canada? LOL

Well, if anything the Mudstar fan boy club has finally shut their ignorant mouths. That's a very good thing. I would even say that is a most excellent thing.

From the BS, on the Mosin Snipers and this T2 fiascos, not to mention the outright lies he posted in his adverts when the Czech M43 first came out (thank you fellow CGN people for shaking out some of the old points of interest on this) I was a always stunned as to how many defended a blatant lier and scammer. Don't get me wrong, I still bought form Mudstar, but I was very cautious and if someone else had the same thing for the same price, I didn't shop at Mudstar.

He played a lot of people and they went along with it. To this moment I still can't understand it. There is stupid and there is STUPID.

Wonder if this will affect the supply of m305 (m14) rifles in Canada. My understanding Marstar was main importer.

Marstar describes itself as being a strong, vibrant business. How would this T-2 incident affect supply of Chinese M-14 clones?

At one time maybe, but others have access now. Marstar only ever brought in the long barreled versions, but there's plenty of shorty's out there.

And remember how John would dis the short barreled M-305 as having issues, whereby they would not import them until resolved, but refused to ever say what those issues were?

This is really too bad.

My understanding is that Marstar was responsible for bringing many interesting products to Canadian shooters.

And also apparently some dubious ones.

It's unfortunate if the T2 is the company's swan song.

I was a firm Marster customer. Til I bought a replacement slide for a Stery-Hahn from them...biggest pile of steaming...well you know.
I didn't take the refund offer and vowed to keep it to remind myself of their ethics.
John dissing me and using my name on an open forum was the cherry on top.
Karma is a b*tch

You're mistaken if you think this is Marstar's swan song. They will live through this incident. I was surprised that they were the only company in Canada offering the T2 rifles. That was a red flag from the beginning for me. Mostly, they sell whatever is available on the open markets and sometimes a few specialty items. Caveat Emptor is the byword with any surplus or specialty offering from any business. Most will do a recall and offer to cover all expenses incurred when something is obviously awry. This didn't happen until quite literally there was a huge customer and potential customer backlash and at least CGN dropped them as a sponsor. Another surprise for me is the blatant misrepresentation of the item offered.

I have met and dealt with John over the years and he has always been upfront and honest with me. Why this particular event was allowed to get to this point in the first place or how his people managed to let it slip past their own scrutinizing is a mystery as well. There have been occasions in the past where they made purchases and before offering them to the public, found them to be unacceptable and either broke the pieces up for parts or sold them as parts pieces only. Usually they went to other businesses that broke them up for parts before any further actions were taken to offer them to Canadians at all.

I am not in any way defending what happened recently but I am surprised by the lack of response from Marstar and the lag time involved in making this right. I have no explanation for this, just surprise by what has been an upstanding company in the past.

I say Kudos to CGN!! They were the ones who ultimately stood up for us (the shooting community). The corporate Marstar would have continued in it's ways until someone was hurt or killed.
Thanks to CGN, that will not occur with this dealer from this forum.

Greentips Thk

This. Unfortunately.

Well, I honestly don't know.

Reading recent posts here, it seems as of late he's been even more dismissive of his retail customers.

Could be he's decided it's not worth the trouble, and he's going to focus on bigger accounts- exclusively wholesale, rather than dabbling in retail.

Guess we'll see.

That's certainly true... but the Marstar website's still out there, so it's not like CGN has shut them down or anything. Undoubtedly the lack of a direct link will have a negative effect on their sales.

In the end, glad that the right thing was done and people weren't out of pocket for shipping (and, I assume, no one was hurt).
