12(6) Owners- What's Your Age?

I bought a Taurus 38 special in 1982. The registration said 6 inch. I went to sell it to somebody 2 years ago and when I looked it up on the internet to see it's value, I discovered that it was a 4 inch and prohibited. I had all of the documentation to back up that the RCMP had verified it many times as a 6 inch barrel. I called the CFO, and they had me re-certify it as a 4 inch prohib through International Shooting supplies. I had to write the RCMP in Ottawa, and both Federal and the BC CFO agreed that it wasn't my fault and that it wouldn't be fair to destroy the revolver. I was granted a 12(6). It took 2 years, but I got the 12(6) a few weeks ago and new certification on my revolver as a prohib.
I originally thought I only had Possession, but when I went to International Shooting Supplies today and showed them my new 12 (6), that we discovered I had possession and acquisition.
I know this is never happens, but I got one.

Sweet!

The good news is I got one. The bad news is that I got one. Now I will end up having to buy a few prohib's. Life can be so tough sometimes!!!!

by simple math if a person purchased a 12-6 in 1995 right before the law came in at the age of 18 they would be 38/39 today.
so that would be the absolute youngest person in this club.

so, lest say 75 is the average life expectancy of a Canadian that would mean that in about 36 years there will be no more 12-6 holders in Canada.

thats sad.

on a related note i just turned 43 and i missed the 12-6 by days.
i had even picked one up - a little 32auto - but had to turn it in or sell it couple years later when they realized i had snuck into the party late.

like mentioned above, at the time i too was in the process of applying to become a LE so i didnt wanna rock the boat.

funny side story.
fast forward years later from 1995 and i had been noticing that every restricted i was buying was taking a LOT longer than everyone else that i knew.
everyone else around me was getting their done in days and mine where taking a couple weeks.
so i called the CFO and asked what was going on, nice lady at the CFO looked into my file and told me that my 32auto incident was flagged on my file and that every time i went to register a new restricted that flag would go off and they would have to look into me.
she was nice enough to remove the flag for me.

so it was bad enough i didnt get my 12-6, double worse i had to turn in my nice little 32auto but i got triple worked over because it cause them to flag my file!
haha!
