marstar M14/m1 rear sight fit norc M305?

What was advertised was a NM M14 sight, I bought what turned out to be neither. This is difference, The M14 drum goes to 11 (for 1100 meters)
& and has a stamped "M" to signify it is calibrated in meters. The M1 drum goes to 12 and has no stamp and is calibrated in yards.

In retrospect having said garand, I looked at the marstar sight and it's elevation is to 11 but has no "M". So it's not an M14 sight nor a garand?
The windage drum is also unmarked.

On the positive side, I'll speculate that SAI made these sights. As SAI uses drums that are unmarked and should/assumed/presumably
be in meters. I'm not sure meters or yards, but as you say "not shooting competition or communists."

P

I would think that SAI did not make the Marstar sites....

I assume they are made in China or Taiwan....

Here is why;
-The finish is not on par with anything made by SAI.
-SAI does not "parkerize" in battleship grey
-There are tool marks (very very light ones) that you don't see on SAI sights.
-You see the same rear sites offered on American web sites. The ones I have seen, state "off shore reproduction Garand complete rear sight".
-If the sites were made in the "free world" Marstar would be charging $40-$70 more and stating where they were made.

In comparison to a $175 USGI or Danish Garand rear, the $100 "off shore" option is still viable. I have installed a few dozen (from the previous batch, not the current ones) and they all "click" and adjust. They return to zero. I have never tried to see if the numbers correspond to ranges in Y or M, but when you zero the sight and slip the scales, they just work. Which is not usually the case with factory Norinco rear sights.....

I will now bow out of this conversation.....

Your right, I missed the grey park. It is almost the same colour as the norinco reciever. Makes me wonder about other off shore garand parts.

The only foreign made Garand parts I've seen that are up to spec are the Italian Breda and Beretta parts, Danish made barrels, stocks and elevation pinions and West German made bolts and hammers.

I've been stuck with some of the junky Chinese made rear sight components before, so I'm very careful about selecting only USGI or Italian surplus military sight parts.

got the sight. it installed very easily, the fit and finish are impeccable and it works very well. no markings other than the ranges and left right on the drums. and the peep is knurled.

now just to take it to the range!

Yes they work, these are the same sights that were suppose to be National Match sights for the M14, They were not.
I bought one and found it was just a garand sight, Called marfool and talked to his "gunsmith". Who knows nothing
about NM sights. The gunsmith talked with marfool himself and insisted it was NM, blaa blaa ironclad guarantee.

In short you will get a Garand sight in yards not meters, Go with treeline and get the real deal. Deal with good venders not crooks.
Yup I was also interested in these once upon a time but noticed the picture they advertised in their dealer section (which clearly said NM on the side of the sight) was very different than the picture on their website. My fear was since Marstar peddled a lot of NCStar junk that these were 100$ knockoffs or just as bad, take off sights from other M305's lol. Having watched how terribly John treated everyone on the board for quite some time I decided not to chance it.

Well i saw the sh*tstorm marstar brought on themselves here
But if their resr sight is usgi or murican commercial, i would save money ordering there
I wont ask them as we cant take their word for granted anymore

The lack of a description telling me where the rear sights are/were made, concerns me & unless I had them in hand to see what they are, I am/would be hesitant to purchase them.

YMMV

ATTN: Geezer Alert...

Probably got here too late to catch this bus, but... about five years ago...I got an old (USGI) rear sight assy from an M-1
"Garand" which was still calibrated in my preferred "MOA" style (rather than that silly Euro-trash 'metric' shyte). It was a
'drop-in' installation; I recommend one of these to you (if you're over 65) at least you'll know what they're talking about!
IIRC I got it from Marsbar. Or Brownell's.... Anyway it was under $100 from one of the two. Works good, just like the sight on my old M-1 used to do.
"Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend." ;)

Now, if only I had the eyes I had when I was 20... ACH! Who am I trying to kid?
After today's shoot, I'm thinking I'll reinstall my CASM rail under my workhorse Redfield 3-9x40 again and drag this classic into the 21st century.
Watch for the latest results, coming soon to the CGN Forum.
Cheers,
CW

I bought one for my Garand that was missing it's rear sight, had a scope mounted when I bought it.The Marstar NM sight works worse than my Norinco 305 back sight, suspect it's an Asian knock off of some sort, not USGI.
