Apex Kit for M&P

Select Shooting Sports carries Apex. I think that their altered geometry on the striker block is a large reason for the better trigger feel. I added the kit to my gun in stages, the SB was the final component added and made a noticeable difference to me. My M&P had thousands of rounds through it and the stock trigger really came into its own over this time.

What is the difference between the Apex M&P Flat Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit and Apex M&P Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit? Where would one be better than the other essentially?

Both are available at ctssupplies.ca too.

other than the obvious flat faced shape vs curved shape on the trigger. the flat faced trigger is made out of hard anodized aluminum while the curved trigger is polymer.

as for the performance difference, on paper, the flat faced trigger delivers 3-4lbs while the curved is 4-5lbs between the two different springs. And the flat faced is to mimic 1911 trigger feel which should be better than the regular trigger.

I never play with the curved one, but installed flat faced kit after I got acquainted with the stock trigger. It was night & day. much shorter and clean pre-travel and reset which results in much fast follow-up shots. worth every penny.

I believe CTCS carries APEX (ctcssupplies.ca)

This is where I purchased mine after receiving an email when they received new stock. Just received it and will install when I find some time.

I have a M&P 9 in stock trim. Trigger sucks.

I have a Apex kit.

I have a MP Pro CORE in the mail to me.

The most important thing is a good trigger in the Pro. I have no idea how good the stock trigger is. If I split the APex kit between the two pistols, which parts go where?

Here is what I did. I put the Aprx Competition Kit into my M&P Pro and put the Pro parts in a M&P FS I had. I now have a Apex tuned Pro and a 4.25" Pro. Life is good.

Check out your barrel. If it is new production the gun should have a 1:10 twist. If it hasn't and has the 1:18 twist then get hold of Charltons and buy the 1:10 twist barrel. For around $80 it is a great buy. Accuracy improved with my Pro when I made the switch. I use 125 gr bullets.

Take Care

I will check. Thanks for this.

Note: I checked. All three are 1:10. (2 Smiths and a Storm Lake)

So, I was out today with a brand new M&P-9 and the Apex kit installed. I've shot many M&P's, none has ever felt like this one! Wow! Very crisp trigger break. Extremely small take up. And that reset! Double taps were really cool!

I haven't shot a hand gun since October last year. It took me all of one magazine to pick-up the sight picture and I was plinking a 12" gong at 50m. I am impressed.

I think your Storm Lake would be 1 - 16 unless they changed their twist. All the early M&P's were 1 - 18 which may have accounted for some of the complaints regarding accuracy. My Pro's accuracy improved when I went to the 1 - 10 twist barrel. When I say that none of my Smiths are that bad and frankly when I an shooting quickly I am not sure it makes much difference. Tough to really know. I should check my other guns to see just for the heck of it. I do not intend to change the barrels out on the FS 9MM or my two 40;s so there isn;t much point.
