It's,

A. Cheap
B. Cheap
C. It's most redeeming quality, cheap.

And it beats an 870. Not a fan of shotguns as stoppers but after savaging high end .375s doing these hunts and putting them down too much as a result, I went to a cheap and easy in between while I wait for delivery of a bespoke titanium .375 2 1/4" Nitro (.375x57 Improved, don't let the British parlance impart too much of an impression of power).

What happened to all the stuff about double ejectors, better tang safety versus the 870 push button etc... etc... I wasn't buying it, but it sounded good...
 
Right! That's why, those things.

Fortunately Jim did a fine job of shooting with a good rifle and I didn't have to wade through the alders and devil's club anticipating uncomfortable personal history with the Mossberg. Been there twice with Grizzlies and both were stone dead at the end of the trail, but a good .375 makes it a lot more comfortable journey. Every stick crack and swish would be a lot more exciting holding the Mossberg though, so that's sort of a bonus. I could get a .45-70 to really spice it up. :d

Wish I had brought my 50mm f/1.4 lens... I hate flashed shots in low light... glad you did some backup shots with the iPhone.
