Showoff your SHORTY 12G SHOTTY (14" or under and Mods)!

Nothing fancy, just a Grizzly.

Been shooting it for years now, never had a jam, FTF, just goes bang when I want it to. :)

Now my go to pack gun when hiking.

Bought it for 320.00, Hoque 12" stock for 60.00, aluminum fore end for 35.00, shell holder for 20.00, so an excellent budget shooter all round. Front grip and sling I had already.

Ended up selling my 870, kept the Grizzly. I slip on a led light on one of the three rails when camping overnight, as you need to know what you are pointed at.

Posted this one a while back, but the photo at the time was pretty crap. Improved the camera, new photo:

Mossberg 590A1, 14" barrel, S&J safety, a picatinny mount, a Burris Fastfire III, a sling, and an Archangel 7 shell holder. Most notably, it's sporting a Boyd's pepper laminate stock and forend, so it matches its brother, the Ruger Scout.

The things you can do when you're bored with a dremel , a hole saw and a friend with a drill press lol

Funny , I've tried the speedfeed stock on a 20" and a 18.5" and it didn't feel right , to long LOP , kind of off balance , but on the 14" , it feels okay and as a added benefit , unless you're a knuckle dragger , there's no way your hand should slip past the muzzle .
Same for the EoTech forend light , on anything longer then 14" , it just felt front heavy , balances nicely on this short one , and there is no shadow from the shorter barrel .

What do you think of the EoTech light, is it enough light? And is it the regular EotEch foreend or is it designed for the 14" barrel? I've seen 590a1's with the light already attached going for pretty decent prices lately and I'm curious, if the 14" barrel would fit on these without modification.

I like the EoTech light , I think it's 110 lumens , and is bright enough for any of my needs outdoors , this is the older model I got off the EE for a good price , so I wasn't to upset about butchering it for the shorter slide action of a 14" barreled 590 , it will not fit with out some work with a hole saw and dremel , it does add some weight out front and you'll notice it more on a barrel longer , but on the 14" it's not bad .

Thanks for the reply and info.

I really got to try and keep off this thread; it makes we want to buy stuff lol.

See if TacOrd has the Vang Comp version - it has a plate that mounts to the receiver that has the velcro applied.

Some of these companies must be sending Dollar Store velcro with their shot card kits.

I always use my own (have to look but probably 3M).

After deciding I no longer wanted shells on side of SG's ... I tell ya, it was a pain getting that velcro off the receivers.

Heres my latest.
Grizzly 8.5 tube fed
Barrel was threaded for Remchokes, breacher installed
MESA Leo adapter with an MFT Battlelink Minimalist stock
S&J 1 round extension with new spring and no jam follower
Oversized Safety
4 round side saddle, one more round stored in the grip
Vortex Sparc II

Its light, its just a hair over 26.5 inches (with the breacher removed), it shoots great and you can still shoulder and aim it properly with the adjustable stock.

Wow, the AR adapter sure creates a big distance from the grip to the trigger. ^^^^. That added reach looks borderline uncomfortable.

Actually its not uncomfortable at all. I quite like it and ergonomically it just feels so good. With the rail on the top being notched, it can be used as a rear sight along with bead.

I carry this gun in the bush all the time. I wanted the smallest possible package that was still comfortable to shoot. Since I'm tall and have long arms, the adjustable stock was a good option.
