Why such a cult following for Colt Canada / Diemaco ?

BCM and DD barrels aren't made the same way - same process but: no taper bore, and to my knowledge their chamber is cut after the bore is hammer forged, not forged into the barrel at the same time as the rifling, the chrome on the CF barrels is much thicker too.

One other factor not mentioned is that CC rifles were unobtainium for civilian ownership up until a couple of years ago - prior to that they were only available to military or LE. DD, noveske, et al have been available for many years when CC couldn't be bought by civilians at any price.

I am just curious..
These are fine weapons, I know our troops and police use them etc. But they are 3x the price of seemingly similar rifles. What is with the cult following on these rifles? Why are many of you willing to pay out the nose for a rifle or BCG from them when a DD or BCM costs as low as half as much? Am I missing some great knowledge here? Grant me thy wisdom fellow forumites.

They are some of, if not the best built AR available. Better quality product than DD. On a side note, they are priced similar to DD or BCM.

I dunno.. I see no way the upper is better than my vltor mur
Any lower is fine if it's made properly. Triggers are always changed. LMT makes the best bolts, carrier ..take your pick, many are good.
So far sounds like just the barrels are good, or rather are exceptional

That's why I made my own (or rather am making still) also. Though I suspect a 416 is as good as they say, but a different animal really.

For me owning the same rifle as the military or SAS use makes it way more appealing than the civilian brands. The maple leaf and it being made in Canada is another plus. I put this IUR together for $1190 plus optics. It's an SA20 with CC BCG and 15.7 IUR. Very low round count. You just have to watch for deals on the EE. Now to obtain a SAS 10.5" upper without spending $1500. I figure they will be on the EE for $700 by spring.

I'm going out there to argue that Canadian made guns should be cheaper to Canadians since there's no export/import paperwork and duties/taxes to be paid like foreign made guns.

Just like I can buy 2 EUR bottle of wine in France locally and that same bottle probably costs $80+ here after import duties.

If you're buying a rifle based off looks and whether or not it "looks entry level" then the quality of it probably won't really matter to you.

Well you can get rifles that are top quality and look...top quality. Like Noveske, Yeah same thing as CC, too much $ for nothing really better.. but looks. Point stands.
What about Vltor. Looks badass and is. Spikes rifles have some flair, if it's your thing. Lantac upper looks amazing and has some improvements. Something better about them all in looks and or features etc.

The barrels are special. Personally I don't think they are as special as the premium people pay. But they are great barrels nonetheless. Sure they are cold hammer forged (as are Daniel Defense), but the rifling process involves unicorn tears, which allows them to shoot into space and strike attacking bears

I'm pretty sure DD makes barrels to those specs. 1500$ is not bad at all.

im not sure where you buy your dd, but wolverine sells no dd under 1965$ cad

a full bcm rifle? lol good luck finding that under 2800$ cad if you can find it at all.
