Why such a cult following for Colt Canada / Diemaco ?

Aye, the last time I saw Colt AR's for a sane price in this country too...
Now THAT was a fair deal.

That same summer, CC indroduced the SA20 and SA15.7 - $2,099 for the SA20 and $2,299 for the SA15.7. Talk about bad timing because just a few months prior, LE6920s were still fetching $2,500 a pop. Prices for US made ARs plummetted and in came Colt Canada.

As a no-hook cornflake who wanted to practice on their own time, there was no way they could afford a copy of the work rifle plus glass and ammo at those prices. The general populace of the gun community in Canada tore Korth a new @$$hole and there was soon a new MSRP. The IOP was introduced not long after that making the SA20 almost affordable.

Even the $1,500 IOP back then was a bit of a stretch for me, but yeah, if I bought another CC at today's prices, the wife would have my balls.

If you collect Colt stuff you know what it's worth. The rest of the people just whine about it...

Don't I know it. Now that I'm in a better situation financially than I was back in 2014, $1,500 for an SA20 is quite attainable. I probably spent more than (I'm trying not to do the math) that trying to build that Mk18 Mod 0 clone. That build though was when I fully realized what the market demands for certain parts.

1.Canadian Made
2.MPI Barrels, Hammer Forged and a mandrel used on chamber and barrel.
3.The guns are field tested. Proven in battle and competition.
4.Cachet. see #1 and #3
5.I love AR's but more often than not, my IUR gets a bit of attention at the range, more so than other brands. Why this is, I do not know.

Dilligaf is hardcore. Not a fan eh?

I drank the cool aid big time when it first came out. Now I rather not own restricteds. and putting my money towards guns I can actually use as I please.
The Pricing is ridiculous now, and they will probably come out with blemished models once they dont sell enough....lol...
even with all those C.C My Tavor got more range time...lol.

I know what the military pays for the rifle complete with an elcan on it and its not even close to 2000. Hope you guys like the hose.

Well the Military is buying thousands rifles and does not buy from a dealer who buys from a distributor who then buys from CC.

Yeah DD and the MRR are pretty much the same price now.

You buy Colt Canada because you see value in the maple leaf. It's an intangible that different people put a different dollar value on.

I love my blem IUR, but it's got the added bonus of only costing me $550

Not quite. An MRR currently is $2350 and a DD with either Keymod or MLOK is $2000, that's a big difference and the DD is a lot lighter.

And most Tier A ARs will do that, except it just doesn't say made in Canada, so that's what you're paying for, and that maple leaf engraving/logo.

Exactly..

This one for work:

And this one for fun:

Please note the absence of silk cloth, Scotch and custom knife :)

You aren't really using a Fail Tech are you?

Show me where I can get a brand new in box top tier ar-15 for 1500$ shipped? That's what my CC IUR cost me.....
Considering the closest DD is 450 more than add tax and shipping, I think I got an awesome deal for what I got.

Dead reliable rifle that people stake their lives on it. I can see why, it's one reliable rifle that just keeps on going.
The icing on the cake is that, it has made in Canada written on it.

You can order a BCM or DD upper from AZ Tech for under a grand landed. If your lower costs more than $500 to build you're doing it wrong. CC rifles are intact made in Canada, but it's still an US company. Hammer forged barrels all have "squeeze bore" attributes, it's how the cold hammer forge process works.

Oh, and the IUR is outdated and overweight. 20" AR's are a dead concept and the MRR is also an outdated design and not the lightest option out there.

I saw that in the QM computer lately.... I was also surprised.

Civilian market with MIL rebate: 1500$ ( CC SA20 ) + 1200$-1500$?? Elcan C79 roughly 3000$$?!?... Well cut that in half... About....

When was the Items price lasted updated by the supply manager? A lot of the prices on there are way out of whack.

Now THAT was a fair deal.

Colt OEM-1 (6920 without furniture) has a Cdn MSRP of $1250 now. Kelly's is selling them for $1100. That's what I'd be grabbing if I was in the market.

I'd love to have Diemaco/CC but the pricing is what kept me away. I have zero interest in a IUR or MRR, especially without a FSB. I think these guys are really missing the mark. They could have pumped out untold numbers of SA20/15.7 at a realistic price and they'd fly off the shelves. Instead they go for this elitist bull. "Last of the furniture" blah, blah, blah. Last I checked that furniture is still standard CF issue and unless they have a 20 yr supply stashed away CC will keep making it until the CF goes with something different.

Still, I'm hopeful that I can one day have enough disposable cash that I can buy a plain jane stripped lower. Would love to have a real deal Devtek. Ironically, it would be cheaper to have a clone engraved and it would look closer to what I'd like.

I don't even know how to respond to things like this, lol.

This. There's so many commercial options that perform excellently at a fraction of the cost. Of course Diemaco/CCs are better and I would be willing to pay a premium for the name, but that only goes so far. You're getting it because it's a C7- and then it doesn't even have C7 engraved on the side? I understand the disappointment because I share it.

MLOK Monolithic rail is probably a good design, but not 2k+ good.

I saw 1700 for the combo.

Yes, but was the info updated last year? or in 1999?

The CAF supply website is not updated often and if it was for the C7A2 then it was probably last updated in the early 2000s. If it was for the SFW/HBFT/C8A3 then the last update was probably around 2006.

Yeah, their marketing hype and product spin to justify their crazy prices is laughable.
I'm a big fan of the FSB as well but I'm kind of an AR purist I guess, I only use a dedicated iron A1 upper. I don't like optics on AR's.
I was actually expecting them to release an original C7 style rifle. Was hoping to see one on our market for around $1500. No hype, no "limited edition" horse s**t or furniture sale gimmicks etc Just a "regular" colt made C7 (the Canadian bridge between the A1 and the A2) 20" barrel with the old school A2 handguards etc
Would have been nice to see Colt just release AR's for the general public instead of building up a marketing campaign to convince people they were made of unicorn bone to justify the crazy price tags.
Anyhow, just my 2 cents. I'm a go fondle my M16A1 clone and watch Platoon!
