I don't think it's bad at all. You can't see the wood grain at a target stand at 100m like you could on a Bender, but it served me very well on my first foray into precision shooting many years ago. I was able to utilize it effectively out to 1km. I would not feel at a disadvantage if I had to take it into combat or competition.
It cannot compete with any high quality scopes, but it gets the job done. Simple non-variable design leaves less opportunity for things to go wrong. Glass is acceptable, and mine tracked dead on. If it's good enough to be issued on a 50, it sturdy enough for me
