Hey guys,
New to the Mauser platform, picked up a M48 and took it to the range only to find that it wasn't extracting or ejecting properly... Just wanted to see if anyone else has had these problems and knows a fix. Took some pictures, figured one of the Mauser experts here might be able to spot the problem(s). I've done all the troubleshooting I can with my limited knowledge and extensive internet research, at my wits end with the thing!
I think the extractor tension is too high as the gun was working like a push feed, with the extractor not grabbing rounds from the magazine. Also, the bolt was incredibly hard to work with the extractor pushing hard against the inside of the receiver. I straightened it a bit, and it seems to be working better with empty brass (can't find 8mm snap caps), though it doesn't seem to be 100% with rounds on the ejector side of the magazine. Does it look like the extractor is still overly bent? Could it be a problem with the feed lips/ramp?
The ejector is not protruding enough into the receiver to even make contact with the cartridge. The blade doesn't look too be worn, though I guess it could of been re-blued... I took the ejector box apart to get the cosmo out and found that the leaf spring that pushes on the ejector blade was intact. Anything I could be doing wrong?
Any insight is greatly appreciated! If I have to send it to a gunsmith, is there anyone around the GTA you'd recommend for Mauser work?
