Big Dilemma ** Trolling Thread **

I totally agree. The 270 would have been the far better choice for me from a practical standpoint for me as well. I had the dies, brass and bullets on hand. I did have to scrounge up the 280 brass after the purchase, but do live close to the border of Maine and have a postbox there so that makes US purchases possible for loading items. Still need to find some dies.

I think that most chose the 280 in this thread cuz the gun-nutter in us like something a bit different. My reason was the same and it will fit in well with my 223, 257R and 35W given the Remington theme.
 
I think people bag on 270 for a couple/few reasons:

1) Heavy-for-caliber, high BC bullets are very trendy right now. 270 tends to run light for caliber.

2) Grandpa had one, and he farts dust. Unfortunately it's not redeemed by being a venerable military cartridge.

3) That one guy shilled for it so breathlessly and continuously, it gave people a bad taste in their mouths.

4) Only A-holes like it. Who wants to be an a-hole like me?
 
SC.........I think you should send me the gun with the 280 barrel and I'll put it all together for ya and headspace etc. That way I can be sure you don't build a f**king 270 out of it............:):):) But seriously if you did want to send it I'd be happy to put it together for ya.......no charge, just the postage. (even if you did want it to be a 270 I'd still do it)

Thank-you very much for the generous offer but I have a fellow already who has agreed to do the job. I have the stock at his place already.

Not too bad thanks...... between 10 of us we have 7 hanging nothing bigger than a 6 point, but it's a meat camp..... tomorrow is last day of hunting at camp and our annual wild game dinner......

Then Sunday is travel and a day of rest / laundry back home and out to the stand on Monday morning..... anxious to check my cams

Well, you 'seem' a little ;) reluctant for my concept for a 270 Wildcat but there may be a solution to my dilemma. A 270 Wby Magnum may soon be 'headed' my way :d :d .
