My glock blew up

I don't own any Glocks so the question is valid: aren't Glock chambers fully supported?

Nope.

I have no Glock but always thinking about geting a used G17 or 19, hmmmmm not on bucket list anymore....

I love my 1911 :p)

I doubt a double charge (but not impossible) as the sound and recoil was as normal from me being only 2 feet away and watching. It wasn't a no load charge as it was the first round of a new mag and I shot the mag just before it and there where 10 holes in the paper.

It's very easy to double charge a 45.

I do not trust myself to reload too much room for error lol human error.

I can afford the added ammo cost compared to affording an injury or error.

I may reload later.

Glad your father was fine. I had my dad out to the range for his birthday a couple weeks ago, first time shooting in 20+ years and had fun and event free day.

Rather surprising considering the low pressure of.45acp, but I would have to agree on an overcharge or a very thin case.

The pictures of the bulged cases freak me out and I wouldn't consider that to be acceptable at all.

If they are from your reloads then something is wrong. The Glock fired 9mm range brass that I reload shows no visible bulge and only measures .005" at the most despite almost double the pressures.

Good luck with Glock and I hope they aren't like S&W.

Glock 9mm's are not known for kaboom or Glock bulges.

I reload too but not a fan of tight group powder; it burns too hot and it's really easy to overcharge or double charge a case because you need so little of it vs other powders.

Ps never an issue with my 9mm loads and Glock 17

That sentence doesn't make any sense. Blaming a pistol to fail because you screwed up your reloads is quite silly. And for the record, 1911 blows up too. Google 1911 kaboom.

I've inspected my factory brass thrown from my G21 and I can tell you that a) the chamber is not supported as much as say a 1911, and b) it doesn't matter.
My factory brass has little to no visible bulging. I believe that the cases I showed were not factory loaded and rather, a spicy home load of some description. YMMV, but for me it isn't an issue (the chamber support). BTW, I don't believe the G17 has this unsupported chamber issue (I'd have to check) due to the Glock being designed for the 9mm...G21 was quite an afterthought/market for Glock.

Hmmm, I am wondering if you accidentally had a double charge in that round. I have always used 4.0 gr tightgroup in my 230 gr RN and never had any signs of pressure. Glad everyone is ok!

Apparently it was only an issue with early Gen 1 and some Gen 2 guns but the feed ramp and chamber were modified to solve the problem on all the later versions.
With the .45 being such a low pressure round maybe there wasn't much need to solve a problem that didn't exist. Glad those bulged cases aren't yours.
.40S&W is supposed to be worse but I can't speak to that since the only stuff I've reloaded so far was from factory ammo fired through my own gun.
