The Varmints are coming!!!!

Can someone please advise what's it like shooting the rifle with just a thread protector?

muzzle flash?
recoil?
blast?

thanks.

Interested in this too. Have ordered mine with a thread protector and the ATRS Muzzlebreak. Wonder what people's experience has been?

Would you guys ever make a budget MVH. That would be in the range of around 1000$?

Considering the cost of just the stock, handguard, pistol grip, trigger and bolt carrier group is almost $900 I don't think so. Even if you just wanted a ATRS stripped lower with basic LPK and a upper receiver it $1100. If and when they decided to build MV uppers in a second caliber I expect them to be in the $1,500-$2,000 range.

Seems unlikely Megatron,

Budget items are typically made by large manufacturers who can rely on economy of scale (purchasing, manufacturing, warranty, QC) selling to a large (perhaps global) market to make their profit. ATRS is a small-volume manufacturer with a small market (Canada). In an old thread, ATRS let us know that the MV and MH were not approved to import into the USA which could have helped lower unit costs, but probably not to the level you're hoping. When you add in the additional hassles of importing firearm parts and buying and selling firearms in Canada due to feelgood but useless regulations, probably would be hard to even order in the least expensive parts available in the US and assemble them into a functioning AR style rifle for that price.

When you consider ATRS designed, tested, and built a custom upper and lower for this rifle and then waited years for the RCMP to decide they could sell it and are now waiting months for parts to come from the US (along with inevitable border delays) the price is pretty much explained. Compare other non-restricted SR rifles in Canada, i.e. ACR, XCR, and now the new B&T and they are all $3000 plus. These competitors have access to larger markets as well.

IMO, best bet for a quality rifle in that price range is a used, restricted AR style rifle. I haven't had one, but one nice thing is that once you decide to go restricted you can indulge in a SBR if you want. Lots of the M4orgery's in a 16 or 14.5" barrel are very light and easy handling too. Have a look through the EE, do a search on CGN, or start a new thread for suggestions for the price, style, and features you're looking for. Lots of good rifles out there.

I just requested and waiting for a price on a second 223 upper.I would love one just so i can practice 3 gun and keep my main target upper "Fresh". Absolutely love my ATRS and will buy a third 6.5 upper when/if offered.

Nice looking rifle! How's it shoot?

Really wishing I'd gone with the stainless barrel and not the Proof CFW. Hard to believe I wouldn't have my rifle by now. Heading out hunting next weekend, not sure when I'll get out again next; was hoping to at least take it to the range with me and show it off to my hunting buddies. Shooting at an indoor range in the city just isn't the same!

Hope you're able to get out and enjoy it soon!

Because we have no idea how long before they get over the border.

Yes, for some reason the DOS has started a new program to do with export licenses and the scrutiny is stepped up significantly on high value applications. We have never had to re-submit an export license application 6 or 7 times in the past and the DOS has never taken 4 months to grant a license before. Both proof and ATRS are needless to say upset about the time delay.

We got word from Brownells yesterday that parts we have brought in for years are no longer available for export under the newest DOS dictates.
I surely hope "the Donald" sorts this crap out and allows legitimate business to carry on unhampered by bureaucrats.

How does everything look for the second batch of rifles so far??
Has production started? And are they still 6 months wait from order to finish?
