alrighty then, say no more.......... Just got back from this mornings hunt, I saw 4 doe deer cross the trail ahead of me so when I got up there I sat quiet for as long as I could thinking maybe the big fella will come along, but prolly not! I was just about to move on when he came out of the bush and started to cross an open field. Too far out for this old cowboy to shoot free hand, although the 7mm-08 has the reach to do so. I called Jr on the walkie talkie, told him to come in from the west while I stayed put. A short time later I hear on the w-t, it's down! So I go scooting over there and see what is what. The Browning 25-06 spoke again, a long shot, will range find it the next time we are out that way. I'm guessing 400 yards, maybe more! This one has small antlers like the first one, but the body is much bigger. So, we're done for '16, 2 tags used and 2 tags not used. We'll have some mighty fine meat to feed the family. Will post some pics later. It's hung and skinned and word is we are going to butcher right now!

Good job... and good eating for the winter. When meat hunting, as I was this year, I target young bucks... as you did. Even my wife will eat them.

Very handy these folding basket carriers, a must for the lone hunter and the elderly not so strong anymore hunters!;)
