Buying sks rifles by the crate?

Is there a significant savings by doing so? Why do you need a crate load?

I'm with you on that one, I bought a crate of SKS's in the mid 90's, all but two are still in there, box is in the rafters of my barn can't imagine they are any good by now, it's not heated, not one of my smarter purchases, turned out to be a complete waste of $700.00.

my advise is don't buy them by the crate. If you do, the chances are you will get a very average or below average quality on most items in the crate with a very few exceptions.
Rather buy a crate load of hand picked quality rifles. Select them one by one from CGN vendors such as west rifle or wejamak known for quality. Pick all matching / non refurbs. This will cost you more, not less but they will appreciate more than the sub par items. You can then buy an empty crate separately.

Need is irrelevant.

Simple question... I have no need for a crate load. If they're $90/piece when bought in bulk (by the crate) and he throws the rest on the EE for $180, I could see that as a reason. Thinking they'll go prohib, that could be another. All I know is that I had a dude from CT open up 6 boxes of SKS's and each one was uglier than the next. Don't think there is much quality out there right now unless you go to Weimajack and ask to buy all of his $300 hand picked, unissued ones for a negotiated price, as an investment.

All I know is I don't need an $850 SKS-15 that hit the market. Surplus barreled action all dressed up and marked up.

Were they still greased or heavily oiled?

Grock-co I would be all over diving back into that box. I bet most of the components are ok and it would make a really cool "unboxing" thread.

They must be trash. Ship them to me for disposal ;)
