A United States defense standard, often called a military standard, "MIL-STD", "MIL-SPEC", or (informally) "MilSpecs", is used to help achieve standardization objectives by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Standardization is beneficial in achieving interoperability, ensuring products meet certain requirements, commonality, reliability, total cost of ownership, compatibility with logistics systems, and similar defense-related objectives [1].

Defense standards are also used by other non-defense government organizations, technical organizations, and industry-by definition---does not mean that its top notch but is what it is-like it or not-irrelevant but that's what it means.Since everyone here is dealing with assumptions let me give you one---you are offered to buy either a tavor or the micro-tav(aka-x-95)---both same configuration for the argument of it -one made in Israel for the idf and one made(in us) for the commercial sales to the public--sooo you would take the commercial one made for the public????don't think soo--and why because your assumption would be it might be better----food for thought.

Regarding "Ns coining the term to clear inventory" we will just agree to dissagree---and i leave this conversation with something i know as fact -that mil-spec in production of firearms is most definately different than commercial production--and yes im buying an x95 and yes im keeping my tavor and yes everyone is totaly entitaled to their opinion and beliefs as im not here to try to change peoples minds on any topic as im not employed as a teacher--lol---thanks for the info-cheers

Please. Enlighten me from your high horse what part of your Tar-21 is better than the Sar-21. What are the differences that make you leary if it. Unless you have a phobia of QD cups and OD green, there is not a damn bit of difference.

Hell our Israeli Tavors are not even Milspec since Gen 1.5 by your thinking.

Truth be told, our Gen 1 units even in CTAR are not milspec, as if they were they would be prohibited.

Thats right, you have a civilianized neutered rifle, not milspec. It was designed and built for Canadian laws for civilians, so it is by nature not milspec.

All I ask is that you point out something on our Tar-21's that is any more Milspec than US production.

I wonder if the IWI X95 will have better accuracy than the one in the US. It seems the Canadian one has a different barrel and barrel length so it should. Anyone heard anything yet?

I dont expect it to be a 1/2 MOA gun, I expect it to make hits @ 300 yards on human size targets when im plinking.

All the accuracy reviews I watch will achieve this without issue.

If you want a bench gun to print groups the Tavor isn't for you. :)

Heck shooting black riffles with your butt planted on a chair is the most boring thing you can do. ( except that 5 minutes you spend on initial zero of course )

First off--what high horse--I stated my opinion that didn't agree with some gun Gods on this thread? really?/you are the one that showed the 922 compliance in part usage regarding us content and then you go on the next thread that there is no difference--so is the compliance of us parts 50%as you said or isn't it?i stated some opinions and a definition by the book of the term mil spec and all of a sudden noses are out of joint--tough --if there is an issue with having a view then maybe you shouldn't have this sight at all----its just a blog boys---and that's all it will ever be--so say what you think as everyone is entitled to that-period.

Mil-spec is a standard, but it is abused by marketers, and mall ninja operators. No one cares.

Seriously go start a thread about it if you feel the need to waste time arguing a topic thats been beaten to death.

Does anyone know if the x95 can be ordered with a left hand bolt from wolverine? I sent an email to them but never heard anything back.

It should be. Ask the importer if you can special order one through a retailer of your choice configured lefty at no additional cost or time. Jon@northsylva.com

Assuming the answer is the same as the TAR/SAR because its the same reciever, BCG, bolt, the answer should be yes.
