One of the Leupolds in 1-4x20 or the same in a VX-R with illumination would fit the bill nicely.
I just acquired a Nikon Monarch 1-4x20 with the German #4 reticle and it is really nice glass. Mounted it on my 45-70 single-shot. I was looking for a Leupold in the same magnification but this one caught my eye first.
I am looking for some scope recommendation for my new Henry 45-70.
Something for quick site acquisition and reasonably close distances....mostly within 100yards given the rifle.
Keeping it traditional so no red dot.
thanks for the suggestions guys.
The monarch looks interesting and at a decent price.
no love for a fixed magnification?
I have a Redfield revolution 2-7x32 on mine. Cheap, clear, accurate and always stays true. 1-4 is lacking when sighting in anymore than 50 yards. Target looks a mile away. Always finding myself turning it up to 5-7 power looking for antlers, especially in low light.
FX or M8 in 2.5x with heavy duplex
I disagree on the magnification..... at 50 yards, a 4x will make your target look 12.5 yards away..... how much closer could you want it?.....
I do like your choice though...... redfield scopes are very simple and solid optics.......
