So you think that Vortex doesn't make any of their parts and pieces for their scopes or assemble themselves?
If so, I suggest you go onto the Vortex facebook page and watch their factory tour where they show them machining parts and assembling scopes in the USA.
Traded for a gun that came with a Vortex Crossfire, had a crushed tube from over tightened rings, sent it in had a new one back in 2 weeks. Great service.
Vortex sell the best warranty in the business, I had to use their warranty services on 3 different occasions.
A warranty "should" be for manufacturers defects or performance issues.......... when stupidity starts to be covered, it only really adds to the problem.
........ and that's good?I had to use their warranty services on 3 different occasions.
Wow!I like their warrenty. ""I"" broke three scopes and were replaced without a bat or a eye. 2 crushed tubes and 1 dropped gun.
We all know Vortex is off shore (china) Don't hesitate in sending anything back for warranty. It forces them to make a better product. As far as the older stuff being replaced. It's a win for the consumers.
How is it that so many people are able to crush scope tubes?
I have never crushed or even really imprinted a single scope tube, and that's on over 100 scopes now. Mind you they were all Leupold, Nikon or Bushnell Elite's.

Dillon has one of the best warranties in the business. I have used their warranty at least a half dozen times, including complete replacement of my 550B bottom end- it wore out. Does that make it a bad product? I doubt it. I and others paid for the warranty when we bought the product. Parts wear out. Dillon replaces them. Story goes a fellow went into Dillon's to buy a new 550B. He told the salesman he lost his original in a house fire. Dillon replaced the press for free, because, "it was the right thing to do".
Vortex business model s to replace rather than fix in most cases. Certainly less expensive than maintaining a full repair centre. Buy what you want but with Vortex you know you are going to be looked after. They replaced an early Sparc (Sent the replacement before I sent the one I had to them). The replacement has given excellent service for the past few years on my pistol carbine.
Take Care

I own a bunch of Vortex stuff. Decent for the price in my opinion. I would guess the sheer volume of product would account for the higher volume of warranty claims. I don't know why people cant seem to wrap their heads around that? I don't think it needs to be pointed out that lack of common sense is probably the cause for a lot of the damage as well. I always get a kick out of guys on this board spouting off about the use of warranty or how come "you'll need it". The market is saturated with vortex products. The price is right obviously. At the price point of some of their optics, it ends up in the hands of (for lack of a better term) "the less experienced".
Enough with the over dramatic Facebook-internet-the sky is falling-miss the buck of a lifetime statements....
Well neither of us actually have any numbers, so I guess it could all be considered theories. I do agree that the warranty is abused for sure and I have also overheard a salesman use that exact phrase. You can't fix stupid and they don't teach common sense in school.I'm sure some of their products perform fine.
They've only been around for about 10 years though. Other mfgs have put out the same volume of product or more over a longer time period with less (talked about anyways) issues.
It's not a volume issue driving the amount of warranty issues up, it's the product and according to this thread...... some users.
It's more the lack of accountability that these warranties breed that bugs me. Sure you slip on some ice and the lens gets cracked...... not the mfg's fault, but stuff happens.
But the "Hahaha I drove over my binoculars and they gave me news ones" attitude with some people is irritating. I've been in stores where the dealer is telling the customer, "you can use it as a hammer and they'll replace it for free"!!!!
