which makers, Green Mountain or Kreiger?![]()
The Canadian barrel makers that we have known for years are slowly aging and slowly closing shop.
I can say and know that Ted and Rob made wonderful barrels. I am not 100 positive but am pretty sure that they came to be because of there love of Short Range BenchRest.
From what I have heard Ted has had a few ailments over the last while. In regards to Rob, I have heard rumors. Not my place to say.
What we need is someone who has a bankroll and some machining knowledge, especially attention to detail to maybe make these guys offers. Offers to learn and buy the ships lock stock and barrel. If I had the cash flow and some knowledge it would be something different.
On a side note, I recently found out that Bob Jury now only makes stainless barrels. Didn't probe into it too much, but he told me himself that's all he's making.
I would not compare a Jury barrel to a Krieger barrel.
Jury barrels in red deer. He uses the same cut rifling process as Krieger barrels does. Very good quality from what I've seen.
And last time I messaged him there was a 2 month wait.
And he doesn't do prefits. Need a smith to team the chamber.
I would not compare a Jury barrel to a Krieger barrel.
mine was done buy bob jury and it was a prefit 223 took 3 weeks.
How does cost compare vs makers from the usa.
