Looking for a 9mm pistol. I've wanted a P226 as I found it fit my hand well.

Today, I see a beautiful Beretta M9A3 in excellent Condition and I'm instantly in love. Problem is, I know nothing about the Beretta, other than it was meant for the US army, but was rejected.

What do you guys think if this gun ?

try it- a pistol is such a personal thing it's like buying underwear- and I don't mean unions suit or long johns- I've got 2 berettas and 2 more in 22 cal-
and be aware the beratta has a VERY long action pull first shot, but it goes single action after the first shot- and dig a little deeper about the so-called :rejection" you will find that they were doing things they shouldn't have been doing with the m9- if it's the sealS after action report, remember those guys change pistols every second week or so- they put that m9 through trials you wouldn't DREAM OF - these guys WANTED that pistol to fail-I've got a 76 issue 92 and it's still going strong- all you have to do is change the springs and locking block and they don't fail that often- not under most normal conditions-
AND DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR OR READ

Been using an M9A3 for IPSC since last Feburary, 5000+ rounds with no malfunction, have 12000+ on my 92 Elite 1a and only had 2 malfunctions both caused by cases splitting on reloaded ammo. As for total round counts, Ben Stoeger had put over 100k put thru his 92 and said it still groups decent and I believe Slavex said he put 150+k thru one as well before switching brands.

Here is a good article on the M9.

I think you'll want to hold a beretta to see how it fits before you buy one. The grip angle is quite different from what I understand.

That being said, you can't go wrong with a sig!

The Beretta grip is chunky but the angle is quite natural—here's my old stainless 92 FS compared with a Glock 21 and a H&K Mk23. The M9A3 does have the old Vertec-style straight backstrap, though so there would be a different feel.

The M9A3 has a few improvements (and a higher price) than the usual Model 92 FS. I've not seen one, but it looks like a good pistol. The SIG Legion P226 is probably in the same price range—I like the Beretta OK but I prefer the SIG myself.

Here's the M9A3 (not my pic, borrowed from the internet...I'll put it back when we're done)

Both very fine pistols with great pedigree....I found the beretta a little large in the grip...so I went sig..but I would have loved to keep the beretta.

Started with a Beretta 92FS INOX - loved the looks, but it didn't fit my hands well. Too big, so my groups suffered poor trigger reach. Sadly sold it and bought a Sig P226 with short reach trigger, e2 grips and SRT. Fits my hands perfectly - no more trigger reach problems. If you can, shoot both then decide. Don't buy based on looks (same goes for other things, so I'm told).

I have a 226 Legion and I ####ing love it and it shoots great, however there is something about that M9A3 desert that temps me every time lol. I will 100% be getting one myself next year.

I'm a Sig fan, so I'd lean towards the P226. It also decocks so you can keep it in DA once you load a round.

All the posts about the grip angle and grip size of the Beretta are in regards to the regular 92/96 frame, the M9A3 is a Vertec and is not the same, I myself find the regular 92 large and cannot reach the controls properly due to the palm swell but the vertec grip fits my hands every bit as good as a Sig or CZ.

BTW the G conversion kits should be out shortly to convert the M9A3 from safety/decocker to decocker only.

I'm a Sig fanboy so I'm all 226, but that Beretta is sweet...I feel like I need one of those now too.

I think it comes down to which one fits better in your hand.

Decision has been made. I bought the Beretta today.

Handled it, shot a couple of mags. Then I did the same with a P226. I was sold. Man the Beretta is a sweet pistol.

Now the waiting starts.

Good choice!

I have had both and prefer the Beretta.

It does have a big grip but I have bear paws for hands :)

I never liked the high bore axis on the Sigs.

M9A3 is a vertec, it doesnt have the fat grip or palm swell like the regular 92/96/M9

roller delayed vs blow back action

i love the sig decocker and lack of safety on the da/sa

M9A3 can be converted to G model, decocker only.
