Beretta M9A3 vs Sig P226

I recently bought a used 92FS, after shooting several different 9mm. If I had found a P226 in my price range it would have got the nod too. Both fit me well. I'm pretty happy with the 92FS, but you do need medium to large hands to be comfortable handling it.
I think you'll like the M9A3, we'll need a range report when you get it tho..:)

There is no comparison of the grip size of a 92fs to an M9A3, it has the vertec frame which is thinner and does not have the palm swell. If you look at the pics supplied by Master-G in post #6 you will see there is a lot of material removed from the rear of the grip, look at the difference in the width of the grips them selves plus the extra frame that extends past the grips on the 92 as compared to the A3, its really noticeable if you look at the distance between bottom grip screws and rear of frame.

As it's been said, the grip on the M9A3 has nothing to do with the 92.

I didn't like the way the 92 fit my hand. The M9A3 fit like a glove.

Range report will come once I pick up the pistol

Who carries the M9A3 and Brigadier Series. Thinking the Brigadier would be more useful for what I would use the gun for as would the Compact. The site sponsors seem to be void of either option.

I came pretty close to picking up an M9A3 a while ago, but went with the Legion instead. Does anyone who shoots a 92 leftie have any idea if the slide stop lever is easy to hit with the index finger of the left hand? That's how I run my glock left handed, but with the Legion it's basically impossible to hit that way because of the low profile controls.

Yes,
it's easy to hit the slide stop left handed on the 92 series. The slide stop is long and right in line with your left index finger. The SIG has the stop further back so getting your finger on it requires really breaking your grip. That's one reason why some right handed shooters post about how their slide doesn't lock back on the last round. It's because their thumb rides on that further back slide stop.

My Elite 1A has a Brigadier slide, other than being a bit thicker and having a bit more material in the lock block area I dont notice any difference in shooting but technically the heavier slide would have more reciprocating mass causing slower cycle times and more felt recoil.

I had that problem until I started shooting my legion- thanks to the low profile controls that doesn't happen anymore. Problem is, I switched to shooting lefty and now I can't really use my Sigs anymore aside from my P320

Congrats, you made a good choice ;)

I have a M9A3 and love it (also got a Vertec Inox to keep it company). A guy at the range let me shot his 226 Legion and I liked the M9A3 much better.
