Show us the mods on your Tikka rifle !

I got the Manners off the EE. Not sure where you can find them up here but I'm sure Profit River or one of those companies could get one in for you.

The Robertson is nice and light but unfortunately they don't exist anymore. It was also nice in the sense that the colour was expended right on the stock so it wouldn't chip away. Personally I think the Manners was superior in that it was stiffer.

Whaaat, Robertson is out of business ???

Thanks guys for the nice comments.

Une belle 308

Where did you ordered the Roedale chassis ?

I thought Robertson stocks haven't been made for a few years now. I could be totally wrong but I've haven't heard them mentioned in ages.

I got it dirt cheap here on the EE.....like new!

I wouldn't risk dealing with Roedale for a big chunk of money. They are unreliable and saying 'communication is difficult with them' is an understatement. Too bad because they're doing a great chassis for ppl that like the AICS (copy) for Tikka T3 actions.

I did managed to get from them a right hand bolt block for the chassis but the money involved was low. I modded the chassis from LH to RH.

I think there is also a guy in Australia that makes a chassis, compatible with the AICS skins, like the Roedale.

Yea, I believe a saw one of his thread on Shooting Australia forums. Great looking chassis.

My RCSII is using Victor Company ViperSkins.

This week, I had a call from my gunsmith... The M595 Master Sporter is now rebarreled in 6BR Norma.

Brand new Stainless Steel Krieger heavy-Palma barrel with 1:8 twist finished at 28 inches.

I still have to :

- Buy a metal bolt shroud
- Find someone to flute the bolt body
- Thread the bolt handle
- Cerakote the barrel ( black )
- Mount the scope, which is a Leupold VX3 LR 6.5-20X50 with Target capped turrets ( after Carakote )

Mods so far :

- Near 20 MOA picatinny rail
- Sako TRG two-stage trigger
- Bob-Sled single shot adapter
- Seekins Precision matched precision rings
- Pillar and Acraglas bedded

Can't wait to shoot this rifle :dancingbanana: I'm sure its gonna be fuuuuun !!!

I swear to god my next rifle build will be around a T3 Varmint in 6.5X55 and will wear a chassis.
But this will have to wait because I must complete this project and I have 2 other projects in progress.
Maybe next year, who knows...

Did you have to mod the TRG trigger to make it work? I wonder if you can put a TRG trigger on a T3?

The trigger units are very similar but it was not a drop in...

I had to :

- enlarge the slot in the trigger guard
- shorten the trigger blade ( you must shorten the exact same amount on the blade than the screw )
- switch the safety blade/lever from the original 595 trigger on the TRG trigger unit. There is no room for the TRG safety.

When I first installed the trigger, it slam fired.
I took it to my gunsmith and he made a special shim between the trigger and the receiver and it now works fine ( read like a TRG ).

My Tikka originally started life as a T3 Lite in 300 Win Mag bought on sale at CanTire. As pictured:

20161015_135633_zpsiluzoh79.jpg

She's still in .300 Win Mag
32" Lothar Walther 1-10" twist barrel in Super Heavy Palma contour threaded 3/4"x24 at muzzle
SAKO TRG Brake threaded 3/4"x24
Mountain Tactical 20MOA Scope Rail with integral base lug for tikka receiver
Atlasworx Aluminum bolt shroud and extended tear drop bolt knob

Bushnell XRS 4.5-30 with G2 Reticle sitting in Badger Ordnance Med rings? (forget the height at the moment)

MDT HS3 Chassis with Skeleton V3 stock and harris bipod

The only mod I did was a relief cut in the receiver to insert / feed MDT's custom magazines easier. I also beveled a follower on one of the magazines to single feed / cycle the bolt without hangups on an empty mag.

Right now I push Hornady 208 ELD Match projectiles with Vihtavuori N560 at approx 3075-3100 FPS. With a 200m zero, it takes 6 mils to reach 1 km.

You guys are making me drool over those tikkas. Flip! Does anybody happen to know whether the tikka t3 action is actually casted or if it's made of solid steel? You guys who have rebarreled your probably have the answer to my question. My t3 life is feeling left out. I think it needs a manners stock and new heavy barrel, or a McMillan hunting stock. Darn tikka bug ! I'm starting to wonder if this tikka action is gonna out do the Remington 700 style
