What is everyones Favorite / go to powder for 9MM

Titegroup for practice. Cheap but meters like crap.
What type of powder thrower are you using? I have found that some throwers like the Lee Pro Auto Disk do not do well with light loads of bulky powders like some of the Alliant offerings (Promo, Red Dot, etc.).

I have a keg of Titegroup but haven't tried it yet. However, I have had good luck with 231/HP-38 (around 3.5-3.7 gr.) While it`s hard to find right now because I had some kicking around I`ve recently been using 3.3 gr. of Accurate #2. Very accurate at mid-range velocities and because it`s small shiny granules it meters like a champ. I'm shooting 125 gr. cast round nose bullets (Lee) out of my CZ Tactical Sport. It also worked fine in my Kimber 9mm Stainless Target II.

Ok maybe I'm being picky...

My Hornady powder thrower on my LNL AP will dispense Titegroup to about 0.1 ish grain variations even after a few hundred rounds have been loaded.

Whereas N320 will vary around 0.02gr.

So when I'm loading for competition I'm trying to get an average of 1070-1080 with 124's using Titegroup. Whereas, I'm going for 1030-1040 using n320 with the same projectiles. This way I am not worrying about not making PF.

Don't get me wrong, Titegroup is still an excellent choice. It's just not the best for the above illustrated reasons.

OK...didn't expect so much variance in replies.....after all this information I'm thinking of staring with N320 and WSF as I can also use WSF for shot shell ...seems like N320 is the cleanest in pistol...Very interesting as I'm just getting into reloading and clean and efficient is a big factor.

Power pistol when I used to reload 9mm, sold all my 9's a few years ago, so stopped loading for it. But now that I have a 9mm pistol on the way, I will be dusting off the P.P powder and have back at it.

I'm shooting my 9mm from a Cx4 carbine with a 19" barrel, so I wanted as slow as powder I as I could find data for, to try to take advantage of the longer barrel length to get my bullets to faster speed.

I've been using CFE Pistol.

What kind of scale are you using to give you .02 grain readings? That's an extremely small reading (literally probably a couple of granules of powder). I'm not very familiar with VV320 except to know that people think highly of it. If it is extremely fine grained that would explain it's metering consistency vs., for example, Red Dot which is quite large flakes. The smaller the powder granules the more consistent the charge weights will be which is why powders like Bullseye and 231 also meter very consistently.

I know what you're saying about meeting PF. However I guess I'm just not experienced enough to be able to accurately distinguish between a 1040 fps load and a 1070 fps load so I would always err on the faster side.

Right now I'm using N340 because my stock of N320 is low.

I got a 2kg jug of N340 for a good price a year and a half ago. I like it but I found n340 seems to be better for the slightly hotter loads. Worked quite well in 9mm, .45, .38 and even .357 loads. I've also loaded up 1lb bottles of TiteGroup, W231, and CFEPistol in 9mm. TG and w231 are cheap to buy and shoot, CFE for me was 'meh'. I don't know if it was just me or not, but I found TG to heat up the gun a little quicker than most other powders. Vihtavuori powders seem to burn on the cooler side.

Once the n340 runs out it's time for a jug of n320! I'm thinking that'll be the go-to from then on.

I'm probably alone here, but VV N310. I also have some 3N37 squirrelled away for when N310 runs out.

I've only loaded n310 for .45auto, and I loved it for nice, light plinking loads. Soft shooting, accurate, clean-burning... What's not to like?

*Note to self - Get more N310 with the purchase of N320! ;)

Currently using Titegroup mainly due to availability, but it is dirty even with plated, jacketed or coated bullets. I also like Clays and 231.

I have never heard a negative thing about VN320, it seems to be the most popular powder used by competitors. I like the idea that it is very clean, I hope to try it someday. It never seems available locally though.

When I was competing in IPSC this was my load data for my CZ Shadow 9mm with a 4.70" barrel

BDX 124gr FMJ, 4.1gr VV N320, Win Brass, Federal #100 primer, 1057 fps

Nice tight groups at 25 yards with a 3" drop at 40 yards from POA

I like WSF as well. In my M&P I tried WSF, WST, Clays and Titegroup. WSF had the best accuracy, followed by WST, TG, and then Clays. The difference was dramatic! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it myself.
