40S&W mags in 9mm pistols / I think some people like oppression.

First time I took a pistol to the range I loaded all 3 mags up as full as I could each time. I had brought 100 rounds. 25 minutes later I was home, lol.

The lead guy responds by saying "nowhere in there did it say it was okay to use in your pistol." So I read this part a second time:

The magazine designed for the 40 S&W calibre variant of the pistol will hold 13 cartridges of 9mm Luger calibre and function in the 9mm Luger calibre P7 pistol. This is permissible as the maximum permitted capacity of the 40 S&W calibre magazine must be measured by the number of 40 S&W calibre cartridges it is capable of holding, which is 10 such cartridges in the case of the HK P7 pistol magazine.

Once again he says "still doesn't say you can use it"

This is the second time I have tried to inform someone of this great bit of freedom that we have, and the secomd time I have been met with resistance. They were nice guys, but afraid.

I was accused on CGN here for "looking for confrontation" when mentioning this bulletin 72. I am truly not! I just want folks to know they can do this! I feel the more that use 40mags in their 9mm the better.

Any one else use 40s&w mags in their 9mm here? Have you had similar experiences?

The people I shoot with are all aware of it , I have not had that experience ...yet lol

100 rounds? That's only a SNACK! like Crackers and cheese... 300 rounds minimum to the range if you are going to make the trip. You don't have to shoot all 300 (but I never have had that kind of restraint)

Pardon my ignorance, but do they actually increase the capacity of the magazine...?

If yes, then of course prohibited. They can hold more than 10 of the original intended cartridge.
 
Stop mentioning it to them. Just go shoot and have fun. Oh right, you are on a crusade.

I actually switch to 9mm mags when shooting 9mm out of my G22. Find they load better plus just have to pick up 10 casings instead of 13. 13 is such an odd number. 10 gives two nice 5 shot group.
Don't compete so load only 5 shots into my revolvers (esp. the 50 S&W :rolleyes:)

And I am kind of on a crusade to get more 40 mags in 9mm pistols... so will bring it up any chance I get :)

PS, the more gun owners that know the better. Would it not be nice to have mag caps be a thing of the past?

PPS. Just a thought on that cop's CZ858 that got stolen in Killam, I wonder if the pins are still in those mags? :rolleyes:

The more mag caps are pointed out for being ridiculous the better.
 
Yes full capacity magazines are nice to have, not so nice to feed!! Lol, only time I fill my full capacity magazines are for competitions. Otherwise i stick to 10 rounds or 5 if I want to practice mag changes.
 
Just the thought of having the awesomeness of another 3 or 4 rounds of deadly puppy killing 9mm firepower makes my manhood swell while simultaneously filling me with the urge to commit unspeakable atrocities...

Or not. My biggest worry with having both calibre guns at the range is that I'm going to put a loaded (with .40) .40 mag in the 9mm or vice-versa.

Capacity limits are stupid though since I'm pretty sure criminals have mastered the secret of drillbit technology.

Good thing that a ,40 won't chamber in a 9mm, and a 9mm would be like a Weiner in a hallway in a 40 chamber.
