Just curious.

What's the deal with Oregon-based Steve's Outdoor Adventures running hunts in BC?

Does he employ Americans as guides? How do they get work permits?
 
Never even heard of him unfortunately, presume he's just a booking agent? Lots of those that claim to be involved somehow in BC outfits, but in reality they come hang out and get discounted hunting or a commission in exchange for a BC outfitter receiving clients from them. Non-Canadian guides require the same paperwork as any temporary foreign worker and it's prohibitively difficult for outfitters to hire non-Canadians (a good thing).

I see. In the video carverk posted, which is obviiously an older one, the intro says "Join and Steve and his client in the Queen Charlotte Islands" as if he is actually the guide, but when you go to his web site his company is actually an "agency" to book hunts through and he is licensed in Oregon only.
 
Should you ever need a Beaver pilot, I'd love to never work another day in my life. I will also settle for a good Cessna.

If you have 500 on type and 1000 mountain time on floats doing alpine lakes definitely shoot me an email. On the light side have better than Cessna, operate a Wilga 2000 on floats. It's a rare form of float flying, tiny high altitude potholes, boxed cirque lakes etc, and something special.

I bet 2017 will be Ardent good luck if you see the Solar wind Stop in for a coffee or beer boat will be around Prince Rupert till after spring bear season
 
Hey Angus.........never thought of that but I have 3000 hrs TT all of it mountain flying and I can put wheels on an 800 ft strip..........would need some float time just to hone my docking skills though. No Wilga time but most on similar performance aircraft..........
 
Would be fun to work together! My insurance requires a large block of float time is the unfortunate hang up, and critically importantly I don't have client liability insurance without high float time. Floats are fun but definitely a science in alpine lakes and fast rivers, about all I have to work with. One way or another we should get out on the Wild Coast. ;)
 
Grew up on south shore of the St Lawrence River in Quebec and moved out to BC in 1976. Have worked in most of the provinces and BC wins. There are parts of Alberta that have some great mountainous territory but that mix of Coastal Mountain and ocean coast line is pretty hard to beat. The total lack of people is a nice feature as well. Some excellent photos Ardent and keep up the good work showing off a special part of the planet.
 
Hopefully the ndp doesn't gain any ground this election and you continue guiding grizzly in that great area.

It's neat reading all the old BC hunting books on guides and the territories. Grizzly were definitely hunted a lot more and their behaviours reflected as much with human interaction. We need to go back to that compared to now.
