Best combat handgun...

Like has been said many times before....all MAC's video's are good for is entertainment. He is so far from a scientific qualified test it is laughable. Fun to watch though.

Now that we are talking about real testing......The last most comprehensive pistol test / competition done to date was the Department of Homeland Security testing. Everyone was invited. All the usual companies submitted handguns for testing.
Millions of dollars (tax payer buy the way) and hundreds of thousands of rounds fired. Examples of testing done: Sand chambers to circulate sand on the handgun. Light sand, medium sand, heavy sand. All scientifically measured with recorded results for all competitors. The handguns were shot to destruction. Numerous random samples of each handgun used in the testing. Only 2 handguns finished the testing.....Sig Sauer and HK. As a result they were awarded a join contract for over 40 000 guns initially. At the time one of the largest contracts for guns since the US Military Handgun Trial back in the mid 1980's. The results are protected and Law Enforcement sensitive. So sorry, unless you are employed by a Law Enforcement organization you are not entitled to request the report and if you do must sign a NDA.

Now I love Glock handguns. I competed with a Glock in IPSC before most people on this form were old enough to apply for their PAL. Own one, love them (even though they point a bit high) and they are legendary for finishing + winning extreme endurance testing......but the Glock was not able to finish the DHS test.

Now back to the MAC videos. He must make money doing them and needs to get people to watch them. Don't know him, he seems like a nice fellow but his videos are far from a professional scientific measured test of firearms. A while back he did a video of the HK VP9, where he dunked it in some water then pulled it out and it failed to fire. Within a week there were a half a dozen videos of guys submersing their HK VP9's under water, then immediately pulling them out and firing them successfully.

So the short answer is: I don't need to watch any MAC's videos to learn what the real performance of a firearm is.....or heaven forbid make procurement decisions based on them.

This is "combat" - armed men on armed men. Do you think it would make any difference if the guy in the car had Sig p226 in factory genuine FDE colour? Or it had to be glock gen 9th to make a difference?

I own FNX, Glock, S&W and Sig pistols. I would use any one of them in a combat scenario with pride and confidence !!!!

PS: If I had to choose only one, it would be a Glock (its the one I shoot best)

Based on those results I bought a HK P2000 LEM years ago. I've shot many courses with it and after an initial 500 rounds of 124 gr or heavier ammo to break in the spring, it never failed except for shooter induced failures and one very bad batch of fiocchi 115 gr. ammo that also made my Gen 3.5 Glock 19 choke repeatedly. My Sig P239 has never choked at all and the accuracy on it is scary, it can hit metal plates at 100 yards if I do my part.

I find the Walthers to be a tiny bit more accurate than the HK but every time I paid good money to take a course, I grabbed the HK because I knew it wouldn't fail (bad lot of Fiocchi as the only exception). Learning to shoot with the LEM trigger made it easy to shoot any other trigger as well...SAO, DA/SA, etc. As much as I like the SIG I still prefer a single type of trigger pull.

I also would choose the .40 cal over a 9mm or .45. I Love .45, & 9MM is Great & Fun to shoot, but lacks stopping power of 40 or 45. The .40 is a perfect round to take care of business via a hand gun. .45 is niice but heavy, 9mm is OK, but a .40 is more Business end. A G22, there are lots used here in ON. {Police, Armed Guards etc.}, means you may be able to acquire one/trade for one etc. or parts if needed easier then other pistols. & have access to more abundance of ammo because of its heavy use in those fields. Carry a 9mm Conversion barrel as well j.i.c. Also something to be said about a Classic S&W 4in. .357 Magnum too. Just has it's limits {6rnds :(} but is 100% reliable & plenty of stopping power.
