The first step is an appeal to the RCMP SFSS to have the FRT reviewed by a different analyst. Their decision has to be made with in 30 days of the review application being made. I intend to prepare this submission over the weekend and submit early next week. That completes Plan A, depending on the results we may have to switch to plan B.

Thanks for all the support and offers of funding but no support is required for Plan A. I have bee gathering material to support this all week.

What would you recommend as pre-emptive things we, as a community can do?

I'm a member of CCFR and CSSA for example. What other things might help? I know CCFR's approach is likely to have more effect, if enough people could support them (the education of the average Canadian joe as to the current firearms laws, etc). Is that a good approach? Or is there something better we might be able to do?

Professional courtesy means that I must first submit my request for the FRT to be reviewed to the RCMP SFSS before making that submission public knowledge. After that I think a letter to your MP, Minister of Public Safety, Commissioner Bob Paulson and the PM would not do us any harm.

Thank you for the update on your next plan of action.
I have no intention of cancelling my order; the RCMP's bogus FRT classification has only made me want this CZ 858 even more.

No I'm just going to play devil's advocate for a second here, so bear with me.

Sure, adding the Spartan regalia on a VZ model rifle doesn't inherently make it any more dangerous, but it does stand to reason that sometimes a few simple words and symbols can turn an otherwise banal item into a threat to public safety.

This little fame that this rifle has acquired under its belt/barrel makes me want it even more. It will be a collectors item that Canadians in the present and future will mimic to increase value haha

Sure you may look like a pedophile but doing that to your van is not inherently illegal. You would not expect to be refused the right to own such a vehicle.

As one who has a pre-order in, and as one who values this run of 858's specifically for the symbolism, especially now, my order stays in. I don't care if I finally see my rifle 5 years from now, so long as I see it. As such, I'm happy to contribute towards any action towards resolving not only THIS issue, but towards making any further such action too unpalatable (or better yet, too IMPOSSIBLE) to consider again.

Right. If you went in to renew your plate, you wouldn't be denied based on what your van says on the side. Now if you go park your van next to a middle school at 3pm... well, popo might come have a chat with you.

Likewise, the "Spartan" shouldn't be denied on its appearance. But if I start doing something nefarious with it... well, then popo might come chat with me too.

is it just my thinking that but: Is it possible RCMP took this decision (to create at least delay) to gives more time to Goodall to use the ban hammer on all CZ858 ?!

Well I made my first firearm purchase with Wolverine Supplies today and I must say the service was outstanding. Called in my order, rather than ordering online and Evan was super helpful and friendly. I am already planning my next purchase. Keep your chin up John. Praying that sanity prevails and you get a favourable outcome out of all of this.

He can't without amending the law. The Tories set a 365 day limit on reclassification. Once 365 days have passed, a firearm cannot be reclassified.

+1

Not even buying one, but this is such a no-brainer that the RCMP is in the wrong.

Count me in. Not really reading this thread, but if there is a crowd funding started, make a new thread......

Ditto,if there's fund that'll help defend these,I'll happily contribute

Sigh,we Soooooo need to get the Lieberals out of office. Who elected this clown anyways? Bring back the Conservatives....

If everyone who posted in this thead went and bought something from wolverine right now I am sure it would help their legal fund.

I'm curious Mr. Wolverine. There has been a lot of speculation and innuendo in other threads, not to mention the endless RCMP bashing. My curiosity concerns the reason for the ruling on these rifles. We are all aware of the OIC which applied to a specific batch of rifles. So, are all the other CZ/VZ rifles built on new S.A. only receivers which means they do not need the exemption, and 2. were these current rifles built on new S.A. built receivers or were they built on the previous C.A. receivers ?

The answer to this would go a long way in clearing up the confusion and endless speculation threads. I apologize if this has already been covered.
