What's your white whale?

It's all about the hunt...

A few have lived up to my expectations... sometimes new acquisitions render other previously desired guns redundant... so there is a constant shuffling going on... once you realize that a few guns have stayed for a decade or two, you know they have earned their niche.

I don't have the big money to chase the expensive firearms listed here, but even the ones that I do have, it seems that the chase is far more enjoyable than the reward.

At the end of the day, it's a slightly different pice of wood and steel than the one I already own.

But the search, I love the search.

Truer words have not been spoken!

Lookin to get my Remington 600 collection of what I want completed with a very nice 350RemMag. I recently started hunting down early 700s w/20inch barrels. Not a whole lot of luck and just missed one in 6mm but there is time to be had

LH Browning in .22 Hornet. I have one, which took several years to procure, but am looking for another to convert to .17 Hornet.

I'm also trying to source a LH Zastava in .22 Hornet. They were available briefly in the US but seem to be even more scarce than the Browning.

Have one in 30-06, nice rifle. My whale would be a Remington 720. Only seen two in my life. - dan

I thought there was one on table at the last Calgary Easter Gun Show?...and it sold...or at least it disappeared from the table after awhile...were you there?

I was not. I wouldn't think that someone that could afford one of these would buy it from a table at a gun store... Or sell it at a table at a gun store, for that matter.

Crazy! I would have loved to see it!

My Browning safari grade .375H&H, borrowed by a friend of my mothers best friend. september 1965......... still waiting for its return.

I sympathize because I loaned the very same rifle for over 20 years to my Brother and when he passed away I was very fortunate to get it back from a complicated estate..
Whats with these 375 Browning Safaris not wanting to come home to their owners ?

My white whales are less specific and more bargain focused. I love getting a sweet deal and with a few exceptions, I'm always on the hunt for a great price. I've got lots of guns and zero repeats in my collection, some can go, some will stay forever but I'm all about finding a great product or gun/outdoor related item for a steal, that's my excitement šŸ˜€

Mine would be a Ruger #1H in .405 Winchester.

I had a .405 in the H at the same time I had a .218 in the S... and like a stark-raving fool, I traded them away... always something new and shiny causing momentary slapses of sanity.

Mine aren't as exotic as lots of these listed here, but I'm a lefty so that probably says enough. For a long time I've been after a Left hand Rem 700 Classic in 6.5x55 Swede, as well as any left hand factory chambered rifle in the classic .222 cartridge. Maybe someone out there can produce a lead for me?
