Quick question,

For those of you that have ordered gun parts and such from Brownells before, what does the process involve? I'm in the process of ordering some 10/22 trigger parts and a bore rod guide. All are available for shipping outside the US and the total is under 100$. Am i good to go or do i need to do any paperwork or anything? I've heard there were dollar amount limits when ordering parts before? Just curious about this stuff and I figured this place would be the best place to ask since lots of you guys are ordering AR parts all the time. Thanks for any help you can give me.

No paperwork. You order, you pay and they ship. When you pick up the package at the post office though, you will have to pay brokerage fees.

This is good info. Thank you. Is there any truth to the dollar amount limit you can order?

$100 US limit per order before shipping fees. I have never had to pay brokerage/duty fees of any kind. Certain items cant be shipped outside the US regardless of cost.

How about ordering a carlsons 870 barrel?

Shotgun parts aren't regulated under ITAR but through the Department of Commerce so technically, it should be okay. I'd curious to know myself as I've never tried ordering shotgun barrels but i'm sure if you email Brownells, they will let you know.

OK so to summarize: 100US$ limit on orders. Always ship USPS. Probably don't need to worry about brokerage but maybe, have to wait and see. What else would you guys add to a "Tutorial for ordering from Brownells: Canadian Edition", for us noobs?

Ordering over $100 but under $500 is super easy just fyi. Just place your order as normal then fill out the simple form that brownells will send you. Takes all of 5 minutes at most.

That topic is in legalese. Look in there

I order from them regularly - just completed another order.

You can order up to $500 in (non-regulated) Gun Parts per order. I normally check the 'available outside US' part of the search on their website to make sure it is exportable.

Make the order online and next day (usually) you will get an email from one of the the nice ladies in the Export Department that says the following:

Thank you for your interest in Brownells. As of July 8th, 2013, our Dept. of State did recognize the ITAR, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, exemption raise in dollar values of $100.00 to $500.00 for gun component parts only.
Regulated items still require an export license, regardless of their value or quantity.
Under the new exemption, our Dept. of State requires an end-user statement to be kept on file for the specific order the exemption is being utilized for. The form can also be faxed or posted/mailed to my attention.
Please complete the attached end-user statement and return to us as soon as possible, so your order can be released for shipment. You will need to print out the form, fill it out and sign/date it and return to us as a PDF.

With that email is a pdf End User Statement for you to fill out, print, sign, scan and send back. There is room for 6 items on the sheet - if I have more I just do as many sheets as are required for the order.
There is no charge, fee or anything for the non-regulated paperwork.

Note if you include non gun parts in the order those parts do not need to be added to the End User Statement.

I always select USPS Parcel post Priority Mail for the shipping method. NEVER use UPS.

In my case it has been about 50% of my orders that have been looked at by Canada Customs when they cross the border. If they do, you pay the GST and a 10 dollar fee for them to write the paperwork. Post Office or Postman will collect the money on delivery. They no longer accept cash or cheques, but they do accept Credit Cards.

IF you are trying to buy regulated items (receivers etc) then Brownell's will charge you a fee of $250USD per order in order to fill out and submit the ITAR Export paperwork to the government.
I just don't buy regulated items.......

Its 500 now on itar exemption. 100$ days are bygone.

Not exactly......$100 without paper work and up to $500 with an "end users agreement" (Paperwork)

Also some items regardless of the value can not and will not be shipped internationally.

Well whatever payment it is, I had to pay about 25$ when I picked up my last order from the post office. Either way OP, expect to have to pay something when you pick up your order.

If the value of the goods is under $100CND (NOT US $ as it will be over $100CDN after exchange), there's a very good chance you will not be hit with duties/taxes and handling fee. The odd time I've been hit but I'd say 95% of my sub $100CDN packages have been without additional fees.

Just order the stuff you need, Sandy will let you know if you will do anything else, than she will update your order for you. The one shipping option for any foreign order is pretty reasonable, UPS delivers it to the border and Canada Post takes over and does the brokerage, so it is pretty fast and cheap.
