The Outfitting Year in Pictures on the Wild Coast

Not so sure Crazy Farmer, as Grizzlies were rendered extinct in most populated areas of this province. Grizzlies are too bold for their own good, and think they own everything as for their entire evolution until the last century, they have. The lower mainland, all of the Cariboo, this whole province was Grizzly territory a blink ago. While they still thrive and can be sustainably hunted in most unpopulated areas of BC, if large scale shooting of Grizzlies without the present controls was introduced we'd look like the lower 48 in no time. A hundred years ago the grizzly ranged right from the artic to way into Mexico, frontier mentalities and "putting fear into them" changed that fast. I hunt them but it's like the salmon fishery, a precious and delicate resource that needs respect and good management. I have more of an interest than most in seeing continued strong Grizzly populations admittedly.

Grew up on south shore of the St Lawrence River in Quebec and moved out to BC in 1976. Have worked in most of the provinces and BC wins. There are parts of Alberta that have some great mountainous territory but that mix of Coastal Mountain and ocean coast line is pretty hard to beat. The total lack of people is a nice feature as well. Some excellent photos Ardent and keep up the good work showing off a special part of the planet.

Damn straight, spent all the time of my life in Canada (born here in BC, but spent a couple stretches abroad when younger) in BC, Alberta, Yukon, NWT. BC is my pick of the litter too, there's nowhere else on earth like it. Deserts with rattlesnakes, gigantic jagged mountains and glaciers, true rainforests and 300' trees, wide open Pacific Ocean with tuna, halibut, and salmon... hell even the odd Great White shark visits our coasts. 19, arguably 20 of the North American 29 big game animals... It's a place from fairy tales, has everything in my eyes.

Hear ya on that. The sustainability should be key. I hope to someday take one and don't want a ban at all. I guess I was thinking more along the lines grizzlies coming to rifle shots like dinner bells but lots of guys say that. Doesn't mean it's true across the board or areas they don't have as much human interaction. We hunted for goats east koots and never had an issue. On the last day we had sow and a cub tracks the whole way back to the truck from the night before. No harm no foul. They walked past the tent maybe 100 yards and followed the creek out. I'll be up in the north this fall and not worried.

Couple more, Nick my hired pilot of choice, 20 year mountain float guy. If he says that lake cannot be done that's the end of it, and a homemade chess set from a hunt Hoytcanon and I guided Sept. We realised we were both without a deck of cards... solutions present themselves to those who drink a beer and smoke a pipe.

Admittedly, I got my butt kicked more often than not... serves me right for forgetting the crib board.

Lol..... I am totally outclassed between two friends here..... I just March the pawns forward and consider their loss as collateral damage as I try to position my more able pieces for vital kills...... it works great with my 6 and 12 year olds....

Do you guys do euchre?...... lmao
