I'm looking at moving from my Viper PST 6-24 to a GenI Razor 5-20. Anyone who owns/has owned both, does the better glass in the Razor offset the lower magnification enough to justify the change?
Owning a 6-25 pst and having used gen 1 and gen 2 razors, the gen 1 has much better clarity than the pst. But I saved my nickels for S&b. If you can get a killer deal on the gen 1, then it's worth it. Otherwise look for a gen 2 or better. The gen 1 also has 35mm tube which is a bit trickier to find rings for. The vortex rings are probably your safest bet.
I have seen the turret caps slip on mine and two other PST's. The frosting set screws just aren't very good. That alone is reason enough to upgrade.
I went to the Bushnell ERS 3.5-21x with G2 reticle but I wish I would have got something with illumination. The turret caps lock into the scope with gear like teeth. It's not perfect but way better than the PST.
Have you used both?
How does the Viper PST compare to the vortex viper. They are at the top of my budget. I'm reading here that the Razor is better but I would expect that from the price difference.
The Viper and the PST are the same scope I think. Viper is the line and the PST is the specific model.
I guess I was referring to the viper 6.5-20PA model. Or are all Viper model the same? I'm hoping that the viper PST is better than the crossfireII.
