Is it just me or has vortex become garbage?

There's your first problem you had a diamond back , that's there bottom of the line . Get a pst or a razor

Db is not bottom of tge line the cross fire is... tge DB are supposed to be on par with a leupold vx1

In the past ive had great experience with vortex pst and DB scopes i have a DB with 600 rounds of .303 on it it hasn't budged.... but the ones ive bought in the last year have all been trouble ridden POS.

Im more interested in vortex scopes people have bought in the last 18 months and the quality of the product they are getting.

as for the razor.... ill jump into a nightforce for that price... NF scopes will always pass a box test were the razors dont always pass. When they costed $1200 they were a great deal... at $2500 they are back of the pack in the league they moved up into in my opinion.

I just don't like the tall skinny turrets of bushnell scopes , low profile turrets are the way to go for many reasons .

Very nice turrets here

Lol, ok, so, you're okay with 10mils per turn, but it feels like we're beating a dead horse here when you're talking about Bushnell's tall and skinny turrets, I just don't see them as tall and skinny?

Maybe it's not as evident in the photos of my scopes, so here are a few photos from a comparison someone else did. They don't seem to be taller or skinnier than the nearest competition?:

The Gen 2 definitely has one of the widest and shortest turrets, but I would say that my Busnell turrets are shorter and wider than my old Gen 1?

The new vortex viper PST GEN 2 at grouse river BC available for pre order
At a good price , already pre ordered mine almost the same turrets as my nightforce NXS . Also has a new reticle EBR-4

It's because they are buying there lower end versions and they complain the scope sucks lol , go buy a 200$ bushnell scope at Walmart and see what you get lol , if your gonna spend 400$ on a scope your not getting much

I also have a $150 Trophy XLT from Wally world or Crappy Tire (can't recall).

Wouldn't go to war with it, or even a tough hunt, but damn if it doesn't have decent glass, really good light gathering and absolute 100% reliability and tracking. It's been on 3 or 4 rifles (granted nothing bigger than a 308) and i have loaned it out to people who had issues zeroing a rifle and needed a known benchmark.

There are gems out there across the price spectum, but so far Vortex has failed to deliver for me.

Yup, it's just you. Vortex has always been garbage, unless you spend over a grand. Then it's "ok".

Every scope is not that great unless you spend a grand don't matter who makes it . Go buy a chev cavalier it will get you places it drives but it's garbage now go by a BMW and notice the huge difference

But that is my point exactly. Why take a risk. It shouldn't matter if its the $400 dollar scope or the $4000. A companies name should have merit to it, not oversaturated with lemons with the excuse of a good warranty.

Incorrect. Nikon makes some awesome scopes with awesome glass and durability for well under $1000.

I don't believe that this is a fact. I have lots of scopes that are amazing quality that I paid under a grand for. Quality glass can be had for under a grand. Its companies like vortex that have people believing in that.

No, we live in a day and age where you have to be smarter about what company you give your money to, warranty or not. Sorry I guess I don't belong in the over a grand to throw around on an "ok" scope...

Personally, I'd rather spend $600-$800 on a decent scope like Nikon, Leupold, Sightron, or lower end Zeiss than any of the higher end Vortex.

Does the military use vortex? Honestly don't know, but I cant see how they would...

I don't think so. I believe the Canadian military is using the Unertl 10x USMC ATM on their C3A1's. I'm not sure what they use on the McMillan Tac-50’s.

US military use a mixture of Schmidt & Bender PMII's, US Optics, Nightforce and Leupold Mark 4's.

None are using Vortex that I'm aware of, but I could be wrong of course.

And no, military and law enforcement do not use Nikon. My point is that the $600-$800 Nikon is more reliable than the $1000 or more Vortex. Yes, Vortex have awesome warranty. The problem is, you basically have to expect to use the warranty.

Why stop at a grand. Some other internet expert will come along shortly to state unless you spend three grand for a Razor Gen 2 you get garbage like that viper :dancingbanana:

Good thing on the net don't need to define your requirements, just blunt facts
