Today I bought a Norinco JW 15 A Compact with money I got from selling my 10/22. I was excited about this rifle and some may remember my thread asking users to compare it and the Stevens 300 SBR. I have a few issues with my new rifle

1. While cleaning off the grease, I washed off a lot of bluing in hot water, dawn soap, and then spraying with some outers Crud Cutter. Lame.
2. I can't get the action out of the stock. The front screw is so tight I literally can't get it out and have begun to strip the screw. That's not good because there's a lot of water set between the stock and action. I wish I could get it out so I could wipe it dry.
3. This bolt is in ****ing ROUGH shape. Bluing is rubbed to hell and back. It's a Norinco so I expected it, but geeezus. I don't expect off coloured metal in the white where bluing has rubbed away...on a new firearm at least. The screw that holds in the trigger guard is also in rough shape, it doesn't actually look like it was finished...

I'm going to borrow some tools from my grandfather to try to get this screw out, will probably need to hammer the screwdriver. This is literally the tightest screw I have ever seen in my life. First impression: not great. If anyone could give me any tips on this thing, I would greatly appreciate it.

EDIT: I just noticed the rear irons are off center, I'm returning the rifle

Norinco quality controll can be hit and miss,I'm very pleased with mine. It's not a CZ but then again nor was it the price. But for a Shooter it's fine, and as accurate as my BRNO and with a 4x Bushnell can knock the head off a grouse if I hold it straight

I have a couple of the JW 15s,one regular barrel and the 13'' backpacker and a JW 23( same as the JW15 but in 22mag.) The JW23 had a clunky wood stock, but slimmed down and refinished was just fine. The worst thing about Norinco is you can't brag about owning one.

I took 1 on trade...wished I hadn't. Nothing was appealing about the fit, finish or function. the darn thing wouldn't feed proper, the mag was all loose, AARRGG!! I flung it across the field & my cousin burst out laughing !! I was honestly gonna leave it there,..my cousin walked over & picked it up & became the new owner of it. I'll never get another Norinco 22 rifle again.
I also owned JW-21 a while ago & it needed a lot of attention,..I figured I just got a bad one. LOL

I'd rather have a Norinco bolt action rifle than a stock 10/22. At least the Norincos I've shot had decent triggers. Also more accurate than the 10/22 I once owned. (and had bought new)

The Norinco semis/levers~no thanks.

All but one of my Norinco's are bolt actions .22's and very acceptable ,never had any issues with them. The only semi is the JW20 and that is the best one in terms of finish. Why they used softwood for the wood stocks,I have no idea, any hardwood would have been a great improvement, but they did come up nicely slimmed down and expoxy finished. No complaints on function or accuracy.
