My family shoots 35 whelen/350 rem mag and soon 35 remington. Anyone know any shops that stock 35 cal rn of any make? Seems there is no 35 love in Canada, anyone know why? There is lots of 200gr ftx out there but prefer old standard low tech get em done brush busters!

Tagged! I picked up a Marlin 35 Rem last fall and just got myself some dies and shellholders for it and am starting to try and find out what bullets can be used for the 35 Rem.

I looked at some Barnes TSX, but not sure if the tip is flat enough to be used in a tube magazine, and have also heard that "monolithic" bullets are typically longer than cup&core lead bullets for the same weight so it can cause feeding issues.

hornady still makes the 200 grain round nose, and the 200 grain pointed...I still run both in my 35 rem, bolt action so pointy bullets are no problem

Also cast bullets with a gas check, max velocity from factory ammo is a hair over 2000 fps, so gas checked cast get loaded the same with no issue and awesome accuracy and performance

for fun and plinking nothing beats copper plated pistol bullets in 158 grain and heavier....H4895 powder is going to be your friend regardless of what kind of bullet you fling with the 35

If you have any gunshows not too far away don't pass up a chance to check them out, you never know what some guy has sitting on their table. Over the past year or so I have picked up several boxes of 35 cal bullets for pretty good prices including 180 and 220 flat points as well as Hornady 200 and 250 gr round nose.

Woodleigh 310gr RN SN bullets perform well on Moose. I load these in my 358 Winchester and 350 Rem. Mag. SI (1:14 twist or faster required). TradeEx has a selection of 35 caliber bullets in stock. Hornady 38 caliber pistol bullets are good for plinking.

I grabbed 35cal 250gr Partitions for my Whelen from LeBaron before they closed...

I also recently picked up a 35 Rem and went with the LeverEvolution factory ammo with the 200 grain projectile. Got these at That Hunting Store in Richmond ON. I will reload for the 35 Rem down the road, need to get dies and projectiles...

Stittsville range also has the factory ammo 35 Rem in stock...

Cheers
Jay

Woodleighs look very attractive even at the higher price. My concern with them is their recommended impact velocity is very close to the muzzle velocity of 35 rem, anyone have any on game experience with them at lower velocity? A pile of good stuff here guys, lots of great help!

For .35 Rem and .358 the Speer 220 FN is a very good bullet. I have used them for elk and moose in a .356 Win. with no regrets. You can special order them if a local store does not have them in stock. I shot the Speer 220FN out of my Whelen too, they were accurate but I have never shot game with them at the higher velocity. Woodleigh are very good bullets, worth the price.

tigger... I agree with c t smith about cast bullets in a microgroove barrel . .35 rem, 200 gr. Lyman, sized .359 , cast hard, and gas checked work very well for me at about 1900 fps . Hope this helps some....catnip.
