Ruger Precision Rifle Mods, post them here

How does the heathen direct the blast straight out the sides or a wee bit angled foward I hat the blast from some of them do you find it reduces recoil much my 6.5 did not recoil much with the factory barrel and the JC barrel defiantly added some meat to the muzzle end of the barrel

Received my JC Custom barrel and got it installed. Very nice looking barrel in 6.5x47L, made it to the range yesterday and did some break in, and a few groups. Looks very promising, as out of 5 different loads, the worst ones were a little over 1/2 inch. Not bad considering shooting off a bipod is fairly new to me.

Hey guys. For those that have the Magpul prs, can you tell me what was all needed for the install? Is the buffer tube extension needed?

Just need an a2 rifle length buffer tube. Just had mine out today and wish they made an enlarged trigger gaurd. Not enough room to get my gloves in there comfortably on a cold day.

tagged as I just joined the RPR club with a .308 purchased from a fine CGN'r on the EE. I'm still a part of the sub $300 scope crowd, so I'll see how those work out first before ponying up for some more spendy glass. Probably start with my Millet TRS.

For anyone who has already swapped out the RPR stock and wants to off load it, let me know as I've got a SR-22 I'd like to try it out on (edit - got one, thanks!)

Don't worry. When I was waiting for my scope I put a cheap Bushnell banner on it and took it to the range. It shot a pretty ragged hole at 100 meters using cheap CDN tire barnul ammo. Now with my new scope and match ammo it shoots sub moa out to 600.

Just picked this thing up a couple of weeks ago. First thing I did was Duracoat in Magpul FDE colour. I think that it looks great :)IMG_5424.jpg

I recently picked up a first generation RPR, and she's a favorite already. First thing i did was swap out the factory stock for a Magpul PRS, i personally hated the factory stock. installed a Ergo fat pistol grip, and a heathen muzzle break. The titanium bolt shroud is next .

Tracer hit light for the shroud is a great guy to deal with and a very nice product.

It reduces recoil like an apa, which is argueably the most effective brake, with no blast effects. The apa would throw dirt in my eyes, and all over my rifle/gear. Took the apa off right there at the range, screwed on the Insite, and tried it out. 99% of the recoil reduction with no dirt in the face, or slap from the concussion. It's magical.

This was a fairly easy project. I used a spray kit from Lauer Weaponry. Here are some pointers:

1.Disassemble the rifle and mask areas that you don't want painted
2.Clean and degrease using provided spray
3.Apply several light coats, allowing to dry in-between coats ( I used a hair dryer to accelerate the process)
4.The stuff stinks like hell so do it in an area that can be ventilated, I used my garage but had the space heater running as you want to maintain an ambient temp of 20 degrees or so
5.Dont touch for 24 hours, after that you can re-assemble but wait 1 week for full cure

I'm very pleased with how it turned out, the finish is usually very durable
