opinions on best sights for model 94

Thinking if ordering or picking up some williams sights for my model 94 think its a early 70's.

Opinions on best sights was looking at williams have not found a place to order from yet.
 
I have a vintage Redfield peep sight on my '56 1894 Winchester 30-30 and also a similar one (Lyman I think) on my Sears 45 (Marlin) .

They are both really old, I can't remember how I came by them, donations or gifts or something.

They are both worlds better than the open sights on those rifles.:dancingbanana:
 
I have a Holosun 515CU on my 45/70 and a cheap NcStar red dot on my girlfriends Rossi M92. Both are great for anything up to 100 yards. I have a peep site on my Chiapas's Alaskan 44mag but the second Holosun will be coming soon.

I'm 48 old eyes and it's the only way I can see.
 
I installed Firesights on my Marlin 1895 and then on my Henry .22. I bought the Henry because it is almost the same size and feel as the Marlin and is cheaper to practice with. Then, I got a 92 with a peep mounted on the receiver. I liked it, but installed a Firesight on the front. Then, I went to a Firesight rear sight as well. 3 coloured dots to line up. I've also got the same setup on my 12 gauge lever gun and my Ranch hand.

Now, that being said, I think the nicest quick sight I've ever seen on a gun is the battue sight on my son's Tikka. That is almost like pointing a shotgun!
 
Have you been shooting your 94 with the factory buckhorns? I have never had a problem getting hood hunting accuracy with the stock buckhorns out to 150 yards... if you have not shot them alot, perhaps it is just a matter of getting some shooting in to get comfortable with them.

The problem I have with anything other than Firesights is that my old eyes have issues seeing the sights. With Firesights, I line up 3 dots, even if they are a touch fuzzy, and I get pretty good accuracy - more than enough for close range hunting.

I gotta ask HC, when you shoot them buckhorns do you use the the horns as a peep or line up the groove in the bottom of those horns with the front post?

I filed the bead flat and put a bead of white model paint on it and then settled the bead right in the notch... I always covered my target with the bead, but I know that most hold the bead just below their intended point of impact. This was when I was younger... with my current aging eyesight, I am scopes only... even peeps are no good anymore.

But, when I was young, I was as confident with the buckhorns out to 150 yards as I was with a scope... and in bright light, at short range (which is most of the time), I was more confident with the factory buckhorns... that set-up put and aweful lot of venison on the game pole.
