Mountain hunting caliber

Sum guy over think it just pick a caliber and rifle or work with what you have already
A nice lightweight Leopold scope maybe all you need on one of your rifles you own already

Yeah that's what I was thinking using my xbolt carbon fiber fluted barrel in .270 wsm and putting that ultralight Leopold 3-9x33 scope on it it would be 6lbs 9 onuce

Taz I would skip the Leupold ultralight. They have mediocre optics and a tough to use eye box.

The Leupold FX II 6x36mm has excellent optics (better than most of the VX 3 line), good eye relief, nice eye box and weighs 9.6 ounces (weighed myself on an accurate scale.)

If you absolutely need a variable mag I would go with the few extra ounces for a VX 3, but strongly consider the FX II 6x36mm.

I'll go take a look through both of them

I agree with you on the 6x36 FXII! Only problem being, the word going around is that they are now discontinued.

The Leupold FX-II 6x36mm is a decent scope - very clear and bright. I have one on my Zastava LKM70 308. Not the preferred scope for hunting in timber which you will of course encounter below treeline. :p

The VX-2 Ultralight 3-9x33mm doesn't quite have the optical quality of the 6x36mm but it's an ok compromise since it can be set at 3x for hunting in timber and set at higher magnification for long shots.

Really I have to keep my eye out on here

You would be surprise How well the (looking to Buy ) add works I pick up a seek outside 2 man tipi tent for $200 And it only weighs a pound and a half and a bivy tent for 175 Kuiu pack for 400 and titanium gas stove for 100
Down Sleeping bag I got new and a Life straw water filter but the reast was all used equipment

I really like the Leupold ultralight, had it on my 700 Ti since 2009 with no issues.
The rifle weighs in at 6lb. 4oz. field ready.
No doubt there are better choices for optics but the Ultralight works well for me..
