I've seen and heard of lots of folks collecting the non-refurbished SKS'.

I'm just saying for the people panic buying every sks they can get their hands on. If your not a reseller or hard core collector what's the point having so many sks. They are fun to shoot due to cheap firearm/ammo but now that that is changing I don't see a reason to follow the lemming train to buy, just because everyone else is.

In terms of condition, it was definitely more beat up than the others. I was a little pressed for time so I couldn't check out more than a couple of them. There was one on display with a laminate stock that was really clean, but had import markings.

Like any other collection, you tend to want to assemble the whole series by date (and aresnal stamp) in the best possible state of preservation.

Exactly, and have a few extras to trade for the ones you need or want to upgrade and shooters too, then there is spare parts etc, etc.

I wish my dad had bought a bunch of Lee Enfields when they were cheap as dirt.
 
I was hoping Canada Ammo would bring in new Chinese SKS's but it never happened. They hinted about it about a year(?) ago, but nothing has happened.
