I'm going to have half a day or so to kill in Vancouver next week so i thought I'd take the opportunity to check out some gun stores. I plan to go out to Wanstall's to check out their 1911 inventory but i was wondering about other options. I'm primarily interested in new higher end handguns and older stuff like BHP's, Colt, S&W etc) Any suggestions?

Wanstall's is in Maple Ridge. You got transpo while here? There is a thread about 3 months ago about another visitor to VYR which listed all the places...depending on your access. eg Lever Arms, Reliable Gun and Italian sporting goods are all accessible easily from downtown. I'm sure i'm missing a few more.

You know Wanstals is a pretty good poke from YVR dont you?
But, on your way you can stop at High Caliber, then there is Reliable and Italians and, and, and...
Just a heads up if you though it was a cab ride away or are you renting a car or meeting up with a buddy out West.

In town for a few days visiting my daughter and will have a car. The "half day to kill" refers to free time. Who was it that had the Korths a while ago. I know Wanstalls had some but somebody else did as well earlier...non forum sponsor i think.

I was into Reliable the last time I was in town. Is there anybody that has a good selection of trade-ins/ consignment or more "collectible" type guns?

Eagle Hunting Supplies ( my little secret )
- its in Richmond not too far from Vancouver. Great selection. They do sponsor this forum!!!!
If you get service from Rick, tell him Mike says hi.

Reliable Gun
- another CGN sponsor. Great selection. Great people. Good prices too.

Non sponsors..

Italian sporting Goods - great selection and service. (Check out their SKS's )
Lever Arms - pretty chill place to visit. It's right before downtown Vancouver.
Canadian Tire- Granview HWY. Great selection on Riffles and they stock SKS as well. No handguns. Joe and John are knowledgeful.
International Shooting Supplies - that's in ... Surrey. I've never been but I know people that buy there often.

There is one more call West Coast Hunting Supplies in Richmond I think. I've never been there but because most people will probably go to Reliable and Italian etc you might be able to find something that is sold out in the other store there. Just a theory though....

Italian has Tommy Worrell's old Colt revolver for sale. Not a lot of people know who Tommy Worrell is but still an interesting piece to look at.

Do they have much in the way of used or consignment stuff? That's where my real interests are. I checked their website but didn't see any listings other than the usual run of the mill new stuff.

DVC, the gun range in Coquitlam, actually sells some guns if you ask and they have pretty good selection you can try out at the range if anything.

One of their glass cabinets is all used or consignment pistols. I picked up one of my Dan Wessons from Italian, which is my favourite LGS. Tiger Arms in Port Coquitlam has the Korths.

Google " Gun Stores " Greater Vancouver.

Then use Google Maps to figure out what stores are within your 1/2 day area depending upon what transportation you have.

If i was looking for generic guns stores yes, but what I was asking was advice on the good ones that have high end stuff or interesting old collectibles.

International Shooting Supplies has a few interesting pieces from time to time. They had an HK VP70 with the stock (stock deactivated) which was pretty cool. Friendly staff. There's lots of places to go so I think you are going to need more then a half day.

I highly recommend Eagle Hunting Supplies in Richmond. They have a bunch of high end items in their store. I remember they have a couple of Sig X Fives and a ZEV Glock. They also have Cobalt Kinetics AR15s and a Cadex 50BMG. Great service as well.

Rusty wood trading co.

I haven't been, but judging by their website it might be right up your alley.

Peter doesn't have a ton for display... I suggest those already mentioned: Wanstalls in Maple Ridge, Tiger Arms in Port Coquitlam, Reliable in Vancouver. Italian Sporting Goods in Vancouver and International in Surrey are good too. The aforementioned DSTactical in New Westminster has a GREAT selection of tactical gear; they sell a ton of gear to local Police. You probably won't make it out to Chilliwack, but if you do, you can also check out Joint Force Tactical for gear.

DVC and The Range Langley are indoor ranges that have rentals.

Have fun!
