Have you guys bought or tailored a pistol just for your wife or GF?
I started a search awhile back for an ambidextrous pistol since the GF is a lefty, Ended up buying a P99 but liked it too much and kept it for myself. Recently was offered a M&P 9 at a price I thought was good, After picking it up realized it was also ambidextrous, Put on the small grip and And handed it over, told her it could be her birthday present, so Had it cerakoted, did the slide inlays with purple and gave it to her yesterday, I was pretty happy with how it turned out and wanted to share and ask you guys to share ones you've done for your significant other.

Polished up all the trigger components and the sear and it made a huge difference in the trigger.

Great pics.

I agree that the wife and the girlfriend should each have their own pistols (and should, in general, not meet).

Kidding aside - I think that a new shooter feeling that this is "their" gun makes them want to pursue the sport in greater depth. Good for you!

Good show. What a nice fellow you are...my wife has really been drawn to my g17c gen4 its just a bit big in her little hands but she shoots great with it so I've been on the lookout for a Glock 19 preferably gen4, her birthday is just around the corner. She also really likes my sig1911 but I was thinking of doing a colour theme similar to like what you have done there. I don't know about colouring a 1911 though might not have enough the same look after....

I agree 100% with "their own" makes them want to participate more, she shoots lots of my pistols and was always I need one in purple. So now when I say iam heard to the range she'll be eager to join

My wife has a few of her own pistols. I got her the Walter P22 for Christmas one year, that was her first one and she didn't have her PAL yet. A couple years later she got her RPAL, and a few days after the card came in the mail, Canada Ammo had their deal on the unmarked Norinco 1911's and ammo, so she bought one of those on my suggestion. She got me interested in IPSC because the wife of her RPAL instructor told her about it, so I doctored up the 1911 for her a bit and got her all the trimmings for IPSC for a mother's day present. The SAM was her birthday present after she got her black badge. I made the grips and did the fitted case for her. She's not near as into guns as I am, but she does like to shoot occasionally. Last fall she actually suggested we should go shooting while the kids were at school one day.

I put together a 10/22 to surprise her with one year for Christmas too.

years ago when young i taught my wife to shoot 22 rifles - at gophers.
we where both farm kids so i figured she would take to it and she did.
she never continued on with it but years later when she got this prepping bug HARD i told her she had better train up on a pistol and a rifle or shotgun if she truly wanted to be ready for her prepping lifestyle.
to my surprise she agreed!

what happened next really surprised me, i tried to get her into my Glock 17 and he didnt like it.
so i than tried to get her into my M&P with a small grip on it and again she didnt like it at all.
she seemed to be having a real problem racking the slide.
it just wasnt something she felt natural doing.

on a whim i asked her if she wanted to try a wheel gun.
she lit up and was VERY excited about that!
i dont shoot wheel guns very much if at all but i do have a couple in the safe that ive picked up over the years.
since i dont shoot them much she didnt even know i had any.

so i offered her a 22 six shooter to try and she skipped right by that one and pointed to my Ruger GP100 357mag.
i told her that was gonna be way too much for her.
but she insisted.
so we went to the range the next day when the kids where all at school and she took to that gun like a duck to water!
i started her on 38's and she nibbled out the middle of the target with no effort.
i asked her if she wanted to try some 357mag and she asked if that was what the gun was suppose to shoot and i told her yes, if you ever did have to use the gun for real you would want to be using the 357mag.
so she was like "hell ya, i want the real thing!"
so i loaded up the 357mag and she blazed away with it!
i was expecting the jump and snap of it to put a scare in her but she double tapped her way through the cylinder and turned to me with a massive smile on her face!
"reload that NOW!" she yelled!

ever since then a couple times a year when i say im heading to the range she will run get the GP100 out of the safe and run down and hop into the truck and start honking the horn and yelling for me to hurry up its her monthly re-certification time.

crazy girl.

fast forward and i decided i wanted to teach my 2 daughters on how to be gun safe.
after a winter of teaching them how to identify a rifle and make it safe and such i asked them if they wanted to actually go and shoot, they said yes.
took them out with some 22's and they had fun.
when we got home i asked them if they had enough fun that they might want to get into shooting.
i was surprised when they said that they where kinda disappointment..... they wanted to shoot pistols not rifles, they thought they where not allowed or something.
i went and got some 22 pistols out of the safe and took them back to the range and man did they have fun!

when we got home my one daughter said she wanted to try MY pistols next time.
so i let her.
and she out shot me!

girls are fun!

i had asked my girls couple years back if they wanted a 'muddy girl' colored Browning Buckmark Pistol.
they informed me that guns are not suppose to be pink.
silly me!

Good stories guys, and good on all of you for getting your wives, kids and girlfriends involved! My wife and I got our Rpal's last January, her first pistol was a pink GSG 1911-22, she wanted a 9mm after shooting mine, so next was an FNS9LS, which is her favourite gun to shoot. She loves shooting and we both wish we had gotten into it years ago, but we spent many years riding sportbikes together before age and injuries made us look for a new hobby.
Her arsenal has grown over the last year to include an AR15, Ruger 10/22, Mossberg 500 .410, and I just got her an SKS a couple of days ago.
We are looking forward to trying a couple of competition events this year, steel challenge and perhaps IDPA for her, maybe even have her take the Case course for Tac Rifle if I can talk her into it.
Keep up the good work in getting your ladies involved, they are the biggest growing part of the shooting community, and even better,,,, they are fun to look at on the range :)

I bought my wife a Ruger sp101 22lr and put a set of Badger grips on it for her for Christmas. We have a set of wolf springs on the way for it. They should be here next week.

My wife presently has a smith 2206 great little gun, she'd like a revolver but any gun stores in the area don't carry a lot of models that she can handle to see if she'd like a particular model, she has very small hands

damn i like that grip!
where did you flesh those out from?

and the springs are worth their weight in GOLD!
i picked up a pack and swapped mine out and it made the gun 100% better.
that hammer spring was sooooooooooooooooo tuff!

Please disregard. I misunderstood the thread title. I thought I was gonna be able to trade my wife for some pistols.......

My wife has ZERO interest. My daughter on the other hand, well, she hasn't fired a pistol yet. Guess its about time I pick up .22.

Wife (of 5'3"..) loves the new Ruger American Pistol in .45. Fits her perfectly.

Now I have a Gen 3 Glock 17C and she loves it even more, stock grip is another perfect fit - just awaiting a warm day to try it out at the range...

My wife's likes my g17c gen4 a bit too much I was keeping an out for g19c for her but the ruger sp101 .22lr might be a good choice...lots nice she would love those grips even though she wouldn't admit it and say a black glock is fine I know deep down she'd like that style. Plus I'm not losing my gen4 17c to a cerakote job lol
