CC in Canada..what would you carry?

The more I think about it, the more I think I wouldn't carry even if legal. I've never been in any particular bodily danger from another person, and I tend to avoid going to places where criminal elements make their presence, or where a mass shooter would target, anyway. There's also a practical aspect in that any 4.2+"-barreled pistol is too bulky for my slim body.

I would say the barrel length issue would go away because the government would not want your pistol exposed. I too have never felt I needed to carry in public places except for that time in Detroit. I would carry in the woods.

I picked a Glock in 2011. In 2017 I'm still going with a Glock(26) and would take it everywhere possible (like my cell phone).

Like you I do my best to avoid area where criminals hang out. Or I think I do, so did/does my brother. My brother was robbed at gun point at a car wash in a "clean" part of the city. You see it is now so much where you go, as it is where the criminals go. Criminals go to where their victims are.

By the way, I carry as much as I can.

We will never see any type of carry in Canada. It's just a fantasy, and as you can see not one group, organization, business, etc, will put one dollar into changing the law to allow for carry as it will be throwing money into a black hole.

I would carry a Glock 19 though. There is a reason large, heavy, steel guns are not popular for carry.

It's funny to see some of these choices. Most people would change their mind after the first day.

This! If you want to enjoy the thrills of having a full size M&P or CZ on your hip for eight hours SO a large IDPA match all day with your gun on. Your sympathy for RCMP officers carrying their all steel duty pistol will go up immensely.

Stats say rural areas generally have more crime per pop than larger urban areas. That said the numbers rise in the urban cities due to the density of the population. While more crimes take place numerical as a percentage of the population the numbers are smaller. Like Lionel my life experiences just don't justify any desire by me to be armed against two legged folks. I don't own anything I would kill someone over. Besides protecting property in this country cannot justify the use of lethal force. Only threats against ones life goes to that level of response.

Take Care

Who could believe millions can live their entire lives in a major city and never know crime.

Sig 226R.

Because its the one I have, the one I train with most, the one I shoot best with, and have the most holster time with. Smallest, lightest, most concealable? Obviously not. But I know what I can hit with it, and what it can do. Last thing I want to is to get CCW and run out and buy a newly legal subcompact that I can't shoot worth a damn but carry cause its more 'practical'.

Practical to me is being able to hit your target with confidence. To each their own.

I can't believe our p@ssy country does not even allow point use stun guns or pepper spray for self protection from violent criminal attack for upright citizens.
And I cannot understand at all, why women's rights groups especially, are not pushing for this?

Some of them are, but most of them are not womans rights groups so much as they are victims groups, and have a victims mentality. Standing up for yourself doesn't fit with their world view on victim hood, and reducing the rate at which people are vicitmized reduces the pool of available donors.

Let's pray Canada never becomes a place where we feel the need to carry, to lug around several pound of protruding metal/plastic to feel less in danger.

If hell ever visits Canada a G19 (with intended barrel, not the Canada protruding abortion) or shorty revolver. Pray that day never comes.

Yup.

As much as you avoid the "dirty area" of cities, the dirt always get out of their dirt pile to "make a living" in the clean parts of those same cities.

Canada did allow stun guns for about 2-3 months. Mid to late 90's???

There was a report on the radio about how stun guns (or was it some sort of Tazer?) were selling for 2X the retail cost in some bars. Hype and Hoopla? I don't know, but I do recall they were legal for a very short time. I highly doubt that there is some sort of grandfather clause if you bought one back in the day like the lucky prohib guys are.

You do realize that there is NO need to carry in majority of the USA. Its more so exercising your RIGHT that so many other americans have died for. You damn well better exercise all the rights you have, considering people have gave their lives to fight for those freedoms. Fortunately in the USA one of those freedoms is to be able to have what you need to be independent and can take care of your self. Its not about feeling in danger, its about knowing you got the means to defend yourself if need be. I wish I never have to pull my CCW, but when I do I'll be damn glad I got a gun than not one.
