Why not get a tastefully monogrammed leather shell holder, sling, or scabbard for the rifle? Save the permanent modifications for the oh sh$% moments.
If you will keep it for sure. But maybe done in Latin or some other cool lettering or ancient language.
Saddam should have asked the question here before he engraved his name on this Ruger.

Don't laugh , many Europeans think nothing if it.You can also notch the stock with each kill.
I've got a Winchester 92 receiver that I picked up for parts, that has a big "WC" stamped on one side. I'm hoping "WC" stands for William Cody!
Typically a monogram on a shotgun is on a small brass disc on the toe of the buttstock. More discreet and easily replaced if desired. When I custom ordered guns it wasn't an option I selected but the presence of one on a used gun didn't bother me.Same as monogrammed shotguns , a lot have past through my hands over the years and the monograms actually add to the provenance .
