Hello everyone, I recently bought a used Xcr in 223. I've been having problems getting to eject properly, the empty casing gets jammed in the ejection port every 5-6 rounds on all gas settings. From what I was told bolt was replaced with around 200 rounds on it now.
What I've done so far:
Clean chamer and barrel
Clean gas ports and gas tube
Shot on all gas settings
Tried different ammunition
Tried different mags

I'm wondering where to go from here. Thanks for the help.

Can you take a picture of the jam next time. I am almost certain, as I have stated before that the deflector has been screwed in too tight and the bolt is sticking too far into the receiver. It causes these types of hangups.

Pop out the extractor and see how the polymer spring look, depending what the previous owner used to the clean the rifle, the spring might have melted with the solvent that was used to clean it, RA recently change the material to better withstand solvent base cleaners.

Hbean, do you know how recently RA changed the extractor spring material to better withstand solvent based cleaners?

I took the extractor apart last night it has the new orange spring. I noticed a lot of the brass that was ejected properly had a dent in the side is this normal? Also the dial that adjusts the gas setting is pretty loose inside the gas block, could to much gas be leaking out?

The dent is from the brass hitting the deflector. Happens on ARs too.

Just confirm, when you opened the gas system, the spring behind the gas selector "lock knob" (not sure the official term) was reinstalled? Meaning there should be spring tension when you push down the little knob before changing gas settings. That does ensure the holes between the knob and the barrel line up.

How many total shots down the pipe? If it's less than 200, even up to 1000, the FTE will go away after the rifle is broken in. Just my .02

Gas block is good and tight, should the extractor have any play in it? I can move it back and forth fairly easy.

It's your extractor "spring". Trust me on this.
I experienced this as well and tried every single method you already did. If you already checked what you said you did then it's your spring.
Just make sure your bolt slides freely and your ejector is not bent or the hex keys that hold it are not loose. If they are not then it's the spring and or extractor or combination of both.
The Spring isn't really a spring. It's a small piece of cylindrical rubber. Very very odd.
I bought a new one and extractor and detent from wolverine for around $30. Bam good as new and never had a single FTE ever again after many many rounds.
It's a stupid design. I would buy a second rubber dong just to have around. My assumption is that harsher cleaning fluids would easily deteriorate the "spring".

Oh my. Are there no aftermarket metal replacements? Is this even possible?

Yeah I'm going to g ahead and buy a new extractor and a few springs and go from there. The joys of buying off EE.

I had the same issue brother. Bought off the EE. Can't remember his name. Some sound recording hot shot guy from Montreal. Rifle showed up, he had at some point installed the gas tube backwards because he had somehow put a bad dent in the back end tip of the tube it making it impossible to be installed properly. Took a file to it slowly until I could put the tube back in properly.
Took it to the range and it was exactly as you described. FTE after FTE, double feeds. 4 different brands of ammo, complete strip and clean, gas settings, mag changes etc etc Did not fix the problem. I was pissed! Noticed the extractor had signs of being roughly disassembled (marked up pretty bad). I contacted the seller about it, he didn't return messages at all. His name was Johnny Seagal or something from Montreal, stay clear of him. He's a liar and a dips**t.
Long story short, I fixed the rifle with a file and $30 worth of extractor and rubber dong spring from wolverines. Good luck Sir!
